anyone know if this is still considered "illegal" by Blizz? they included it in the beta release of auctioneer, but i want to make sure before i utilize it

I believe their objection was against BottomFeeder, which was based on BottomScanner but had the difference of automating the bid/buy/sell process. (BottomFeeder automated, BottomScanner did not)

However, in cases such as this I'd recommend erring on the side of caution. I've stayed away from it. And only partly because I have no clue how to work it

kk, thanks. i'dve asked on the official forum to get a bluie, but i didn't want to ask something that already was, and the text search was still broken there

Sure! Just remember though that it's only an opinion!

Haven't heard anything official. I did notice that Auctioneer had something similar but I know tons of people who have used it and haven't heard anything negative, so who knows.

If its pushing buttons for you (IE - auto listing items to sell), stay the hell away from it.

As long as the player still has to push the button (whatever button it may be), Blizzard is normally "ok" with it.

oh, always. don't worry, if i get banned, i won't be saying "so and so told me it was okay" unless the person in question was an authed rep of Blizz. it's a low-bid scanner that scans the entire AH list and gives you the option (doesn't buy it for you) of purchasing an AH item that is listed for buyout at lower than vendor return, i.e. someone's selling an item for 2c that you could get 10s for from a vendor. it then asks you if you would like to buyout that item. you have to turn it on manually, and tell it to buy something if it finds it. there is an option not to buy as well

It doesn't push buttons for you, just scans what you know of the current auctions, looking for the best deals from the last scan. You still have to click to do the process. To my knowledge, the auctioneer people are ensuring it is OK with the ToU/EULA.

BottomScanner = Ok, BottomFeeder = not Ok.

blizzard blocked all addons from executing all 'automatic' commands since 1.10. Addons are not even able to do stuff without you pushing a button or clicking something.

True, but BottomScanner *is* able to scan the database that Auctioneer makes when you click Auctioneer to "Scan". And from that, it is able to report the "best" deals it can find, and then provide a dialog box for you to click whether to buy the item and repost it in the auctionhouse at a better price, or skip it.

It is actually a PITA to use though.

I normally run a scan when I am afk but with bottom feeder on it stops the scan waiting for your input about this great "bargain" it has found and so that means you pretty much have to spend the entire 15 minutes at the PC.

So far it has picked up crap, like you can make 30s if you buy this and resell. But that said, it did pick up a Golden Pearl with a 1G35S b/o on it. Guess what I did?

Shame that these are now as common as AOL users and just about as valuable too. You get loads from clams in outlands- The Underbog seems particularly good for this.

I spent a little time fiddling with it yesterday. You can set the minimum profit levels that you want to bother with.

Never discount the benefit of lots of small transactions. There are stores based on that concept that makes a massive profit. (Think $2 shops ...)

The piece that is often missing is the posting fee to put the item back up for auction. I almost lost my shirt on some star rubies...

I find bottomscanner not worth it, but the manual scan for bargains works well.
