I'm in Ironforge for the first time, and was wondering what is the best way to get to Southshore (never been there before). Also, where's the Gryphon Master in Ironforge?

Well, its been awhile since I have been in IF, as I am a Horde player.. but its in the center of the city, towards the SW side of the center catwalk if I recall correctly...

You are going to want to leave IF, and run the road EAST... take that to the Wetlands... run that road as well.. you will come to a point where you can either keep going West on the road, or go North... you will want to run north to Areathi Highlands... Once you get there, you will want to branch westward... do NOT forget to get your flight tie at Refuge Point (just a tad north of the road.. you will see signs to it..)... you will keep following the road westbound through a huge wall into the Hilsbarad area. Keep going until you see the road branch south to.. southshore...

Keep in mind that a TON of bored Horde and Alliance 60's are in that area at times (AV entrance is in that area) and there is a good chance you shall become a sporting target..

I'm lvl 18. Will I get killed on this road?

Yes, the units in Arathi highlands are 33+ they will start attacking you from quite a range.
If you can find a friendly lock and 2 other ppl in southshore that are willing to summon you itt will be alot easier.

Honestly?

yeah, there is a good chance of it. You should be fine all the way through the wetlands, but once you cross the huge ruined bridge into Ariathi, you are going to be outleveled by the creatures there. It doesn't happen ALL the time, but some do wander very close to the road and will aggro you.

You area also subject to the mood of any and all Horde players that you run across, which are most likly going to outlevel you as well.

while I myself do not go out of my way to gank, Unfortunatly there are any number of players who do not feel as i do.....

But, in my personal opinion, NONE of this should sway you from making the run and getting the flight ties. The challange and danger of the run is what makes this game fun :) Plus, seeing new area's and learning new stuff :)

The Gryphon master in IF is at The Great Forge.

Do you have Menethil Harbor flightpath? If not then from IF head through Dun Morogh -> Loch Modan -> Wetlands -> Arathi Highlands -> Hillsbrad Foothills -> Southshore (you can divert & pick up Menethil harbor on the way).

If you have Menethil Harbor Flightpath, fly there then go through Wetlands -> Arathi Highlands -> Hillsbrad Foothills -> Southshore.

LOL :) thank you :) MUCH more precise than my Horde Based directions :) I can't remember all those names, as I am generally running like a bat out of H E double hockeysticks through those area's with a few Elven hunters on my tail :)

H E double hockeysticks

Erm, sorry to bring up something completely different, but bloodhound gang fan?

To be useful: if you talk to a guard in the main cities and ask them where, for example, the flight master is, they will put a marker on your minimap and your main map. This should help you find everything a city has - class trainers, professions trainers, the auction house, the flight master, the deeprun tram etc etc.

....if you talk to a guard ....

I tried it.... Only thing that happened was this short little feller in armor screamed out "JINKIES!!! Its a Horde Shaman!!!" and then started hitting me and chasing me with all his friends... pretty soon everyone got in on the action :) I must admit though, I was great marathon training ;)

As an aside, the easiest way to get to Southshore from Menethil (If you have it) is actually to swim. That is how I did it on my Warlock.

The only creature I encountered, short of the Naga that are close to the harbour entrance at Southshore, was a level 32 Hammerhead shark. He was Elite, but easy to avoid and I was quite deep when I met up with him. (Warlock with Unending Breath so nobody sees me) The water is quite murky, but the swim is definately possible if you stay on the border of the fatigue zone.

The only snag I could see is that if you do die, it's a long run back to your corpse. But you're usually safe from other players seeking to gank.

Edit:
Well, apart from the summon route it is the easiest!

Watch out for the Forsaken Courier and Posse.

They patrol along the road that runs past Refuge all the way to Tarren Mill in Hillsbrad. Lvl 35 and has 4 lvl 35 guards.

How would I have someone summon me?

You need to find a Warlock that is already in Southshore (Or even close - at Refuge Point - then it's a shorter run for you). They will need two assistants to help them hold the portal open for you - most locks appreciate it if you organise the helpers for them. The helpers have to be partied up with the Warlock for it to work.

So - a /who search should help you find some people. Then a few PMs to get things setup.

I's good to tip as well. It only costs the Warlock a soul shard, but I've always been grateful for people who make the process as painless for me as possible. Tips generally run around 50s - 75s on my server as an indicative price.

Also, how do I keep from getting fatigued while swimming. I already drowned once

Watch the colour of the water. When it is darker, that indicates a fatigue zone. You cannot swim there for any length of time. So skirt the border of that area and you'll be okay.

Yeah, that worked. I swam there, and it was quite easy. Thanks for all the help.
