just wondering if anyone knows if you have to instance to get rep above honored for the new outland factions?

some nice stuff avalible however, going from my cenarion expedition rep the plant turn in ends at honored, so figured others are similar.

are you still able to grind mobs to get rep, or is it just like old factions were its a case of going instancing to get the higher reps.

was hoping you could now get the rep without having to spend days in a instance, being that the game is now more casual friendly.

before anyone jumps on the free epics bandwagon, thats not it, being in a pvp guild i spend most of my time pvping(my choice obviously) so was hoping to grind rep in any down time that i have, which wont happen if i have to go raiding etc.

cant see anything offical about this and last time i checked bliz hadnt updated the factions page

I don't have any sources to point to for this, but I believe rep above honored comes from the instance in each faction's zone, and rep above the revered comes from the same instances set to heroic difficulty. I may have read that in the wowvault faq, but i'm not sure...

Actually, I don't think the instance on "normal" setting will give you rep past honoured. At least, I believe that is the case for Honour Hold and Hellfire Citadel.

Of course, the difficulty there is that you need to be Revered to get the key to be able to run it on Heroic (which will give you rep). The other option is to run Kharazan <spelling> ... which I *think* is a 10 person instance in HFC ?

Well, the druid in my regular group would kill for some of the CE exalted stuff, and she tends to do her research, so I guess I will find out, kickass :)

what im woundering is, is it one of these silly blizz rep grind deals where the best thing to do is grind mob till you stop getting rep saving up quest items then turn in quest till you can not longer get more rep with quest, then run instances or is it just all rep except instances stops at some point so no harm in doing the quest off the bat?

I don't know the answer, but just a data point:

My rep with Honor Hold has been stuck at one point below Honored for a few days now. Full runs of Hellfire Citadel instances haven't budged it. Maybe turning in a HH quest will push it over the edge... (I've been largely ignoring those quests because the targets of them are so badly camped)

So far in my limited experience (alllllmost 62) I'm honored and a couple hundred rep points toward revered with Thrallmar just doing quests. I've done 2 runs of the Ramparts, so I'm sure kills / boss kills in there helped me some. But, it's not like I've done that 1000 times to get my rep up.

I don't know if killing any mobs outside of the instances will increase rep (don't really watch that closely) but at least with Thrallmar, I think you'll be able to make some good rep progress just by questing - and there are a ton of them to do!

You need some reputation level with ( for example Cen Exp ) to even buy the dungeon key for heroic difficulty..which leads to the question:

Do all party members need that key or only one?

The battle for Mount Hyjal has some endles quest chain to get there, including several dungeon on "heroic". Long grind ahead it seems....

Kharazan is in Deadwind Pass, and I have no idea what the level restrictions or the person limit is. I think it's a raid though, I saw a green instance portal when I last checked.

70+ raid I think. 10-man.

I went visiting after 2.0.4, just before the expansion hit, and it was surrounded by lvl 69-70 undead... :-)

For HH, mobs in ramparts and blood furnace will take you to honored. After that you can apparently get rep running shattered hall, which is a level 70 10 man raid also at the citadel.

There is also a repeatable quest to capture the towers, but they appear to have nerfed it, dropping rep gain from 250 down to 10.

If you are concerned about rep, they recommend you run the low level instances until honored before starting the quests.

heroic mode keys are needed by everyone. All heroic mode key require exalted and are then just vendor bought. The list:

Hellfire Citadel Heroics: Honor Hold/Thrallmar
Coilfang Reservoir heroics: Cenarion Expedition
Auchindoun Heroics: Lower City
Tempest Keep Heroics: Sha'Tar
Caverns/Time Heroics: Keepers of Time

HH/Thrallmar rep from furnace/ramparts stops at honored, so you are better off instance grinding, THEN doing Hellfire quests .

CE rep from slave pens/underbog stops at honored, so you are better off instance grinding, THEN doing Zangarmarsh quests if you want to maximize your returns.

The other 3 appear to give instance rep all the way to exalted, so you should be free to quest/instance as you wish.

The keys are at revered and everyone in the group needs them.

On the topic of honor with different factions, it is different between the different factions. The initial BC instances have their rep gain capped at 5999/6000 Friendly, and you need to do quests and/or PvP to actually hit Honored. For HFC, the remaining rep up to Exalted comes from the lvl 70 Shattered Halls instance.

Kharazan is in Deadwind Pass, and I have no idea what the level restrictions or the person limit is. I think it's a raid though, I saw a green instance portal when I last checked.Karazhan is a lvl 70 10-man raid instance, and it is indeed in Deadwind Pass. You'll need a key for it, and it seems you need to run the Caverns of Time instances to get this key.

Speaking of keys, in almost all cases each member of the party/raid needs to have his own key in order to gain entry. AFAIK, the only two exceptions are the Shadow Labyrinth key (Auchindoun) and the Key to the Arcatraz (Tempest Keep). In both these cases, only one member of your party needs the key (UBRS style), but for all the other ones you have to earn it yourself.
