View Full Version : Mice are not baby toys

So I play with a lovely Logitech MX-1000 Laser mouse. It's smooth, comfortably fits my hand and has a lot of buttons. I'm told buttons are good. Unfotunately it is cordless and I have a little monster that runs around the house. She's of a height now where she can reach up onto desks and the like and this means she's able to fetch the mouse off my desk.
So rollback to Christmas. We got her a water fun activity set (You can see where this is going) which is setup in the kitchen so she can splash and play there when she feels like it, gets the tiles wet so we can just mop up.
For some incomprehensible reason she has decided that my poor mouse will float. Despite repeated experiments that disproves this case, whenever I get up from my desk she's there to grab the mouse and toddle it over to the water. I'm sure within the next hundred attempts or so the poor thing will learn to swim - or maybe mouse-paddle at the worst.
So moral of the story. Mice don't like water much. It still works. Kinda. But now and then a click will go awry or a button won't release. It makes playing World of Warcraft entertaining to say the least!
Has your kids done crazy things to your WoW experience at all?
i personally don't like too many buttons, i love razors and G5 (and notice how they're not wireless *wink*.
i dont have kids but i've done silly things myself :)

I know. I've got 3 of them now, one for the laptop, one for my main workstation and one for the office. It's a brilliant little mouse and all those little aids make it a very useful toy.
I think the corded thing would've saved the mouse in this case though
have u guys seen the wire on the G5? after using every gaming mouse on the market... i have to say the simplicity of razor and g5 wins.

augh, there it is.
The old FPS bs'r. Everyone has an excuse about ever piece of euipment when it comes to FPS
well, everyone have their preferences :) but i find wireless mouse to be a big too big and heavy for the most precise moves (photoshop too). i'm using my G5 now, broke my razor... and i prolly wont buy another razor anytime soon, too $$$... and i'm loving my G5 :p

Well, I have a three year old step-son at home, and both his mother and I play WOW.
One time my fiance (spelling?) had a chat with someone about something in th general chat and then decided to step out for a smoke (her one big sin, IMHO). Well, both she and I have an addon that sticky channels so we don't have to type /1 in front of every sentence.
This mean that when the litte menace started hitting the keyboard repeatedly the general channel in Orgrimmar suddenly turned VERY interesting, not to mention senseless. The chatlog was full of sentences like "øafhnø ae, foø ilw4 7kiuk8i73wa,n e,mbn d$r5tg" and the like.
Not only had 40+ people put her on ignore, one of them a guildie, but someone had also contacted a GM and reported her for "verbal abuse". She got quite a shock when she came back and saw panels and item bags open, and a whisper from a GM wondering what was up.

I've been content with my MX-500 for both FPS and other games! Feels nice in my hand and has plenty of buttons to keep me busy!

We've had no Abby>WoW experiences...yet. I'm sure that they'll happen sooner or later.
I'm in the same boat as xxlebox, old wheeled mouse, though it does have a scrolling wheel too.
My catv attacks my mouse, and she jumps on the keyboard all the time. Many a wipe has been caused by Phoebe, my guild fears her. ;D
the cat i used to live with doesnt do that... she just walks up to the keyboard and decide that in the big big house that's the perfect spot for her nap.
Phoebe 'helped' me MT Raggy once.
We didn't die. ;O
really? the cats i run into always think, "i'm gonna make you die... not moving anywhere mister..." it's true i can read their thoughts.

Thats about as weird as the people that launch their Wii Controllers across the Room. I have seriously never launched my mouse.

I might regret asking this ... but how did you bump into the mouse on the table?
I might regret asking this ... but how did you bump into the mouse on the table?
there are soooo many ways, but usually it involves me using awsd with left hand and right hand on keypad. and when i reach over for mouse i bump it and it falls of the table...
other times, talking to Tanitha turned me on so much... _________________________________________, and mouse fall off the table.
