View Full Version : So...who owns and epic flying mount?
..and how does it compare to a "normal" flying mount. Basically this aims at the "is it worth all the gold" question.
I use flightpaths a lot to afk and you can buy a lot of flights for 5200 gold..on the other hand I have 6700 gold on Nerghul and what else am I gonna do?

I bought it last night love it. It blows the regular flying mount out of the water. It is essentially the same as having your own personal wind rider without having to follow the flight paths.
Yes it is very much a luxury like buying a porsche instead of buying an accord or taking a taxi. But I've always wanted a porsche. LOL

anyone on argent dawn want to give me the 5000g so i dont have to grind it?
ive only got a slow flying mount atm, nothing worse than having one of those boy racer swift mounts speed past you.
im in no rush really, it would of course be nice to have one, but as i mainly BG pvp, except for world PvP its not that much use since you can use them in BG's.
if i keep going with how ive been doing on the AH, i may rustle up the G's in a few weeks.

Normal mounts (lvl 40) = 60% speed increase
Epic mounts (lvl 60) = 100% speed increase
Normal flying mount (lvl 70) = 60% speed increase
Epic flying mount (lvl 70) = 280% speed increase
As you can see there's a huge difference between normal flying mounts and epic ones. Afaik, the speed on flightpaths is 400% speed increase, so that is still faster, but obviously by using flighpaths you can't fly where ever you want :)
Okay, okay...converted. Awesome mount...awesome view. Especially Netherstorm is something to behold...

I'll say this right now...if you can afford an epic flying mount you will NOT regret it...ever. I had the gold to train and buy one as soon as I hit 70 and my WoW game has never been the same since and I mean that in a good way. It puts an entirely new and awesome perspective on the game. Freedom to go anywhere you want is finally a precious luxury that everyone can have...even those without the huge vault of gold can still buy the slower one. Sure, it may not get you from point A to point B as fast but the freedom to go anywhere you please is still there. Enjoy!

I'm lvl 66 right now and have 1700 gold.(Made 900 gold in Outland) I doub I'll end with 5000g at lvl 70. So should I buy the regular flying mount first? Or go around grinding things with my Dreadsteed. 700g out of 5000g doesn't seem that much.

you have to get the slow one first, well atleast the 225 skill...might as well drop the 100 gold for the 60% mount too

Ah, didn't know that, as a lock I've never had to buy riding skill so.
Guess it's settled then.
Slow flyer is 100 gold, epic flyer 200...so it won't fail on that account. Been exploring Shadowmoon Valley with this thing and it is awesome. You really get this devastating feeling of a besieged land...great place.
At 69.5 (or earlier) stop doing quest...or rather stop handing them in. 11 gold per quest translate to about 60 gold per hour. After I bought my mount a few days ago, I made already several hundred gold on quests. Epic mount is definitely attainable eventually
