Searching for an herb

Hi, I just started an alt who has herbalism for a profession, and I took a look at gatherer, and cartographer-herbalism, and was wondering if it is possible to search for an herb. For example if I was looking for a an herb, and the mod would tell me where it would be found.

Sort of. With Gatherer - I don't know about cartographer-herbalism - when you 'pick' an herb, it's location and information gets stored in a database.

Later, you can access/look at this information to see what/where/when you farmed that herb, and thus go find it again. You have to build the database based on your experience, and...

No, you can't download a pre-existing filled in database with the information. You've got to do the ground work initially.

Actually you can download a database for gatherer, it's not 100% but it's pretty close, at least for the lower level stuff.

Well I have been a Herbalist since feb 2004 and I really miss gatherer .. but for quick info where i've been .. Metamaps DB facility with tracking herbs on is so far doing a reasonable replacement... it leaves icons on your map so you can see which particular herbs your re-hunting for at a glance .
