i'm somewhat of an ex-literature snob... i love modernism and post-modern writers, reading william faulkner's sound and fury when i was 17 was traumatizing...

besides that i'm a sucker for emily bronte esp her wuthering height... do i want to be a byronic hero?

I read a lot from the political science section, history is always fun stuff, and of course, what gamer's book list would be complete without the fantasy genre. My two favorite authors are Dennis McKiernan and Noam Chomsky.

Dirk Pitt must be one of the sexiest men alive. In the book - although Mr McConnaughey is none too shabby either

But we were talking about books, weren't we? Let's see, like most of those who suffer from RPG lurve I read mostly fantasy. My favourites at the moment:

The Wizard's Rule series by Terry Goodkind. He has some strange obsessions, but I love the Mord Sith and Kahlan. Richard's a bit of a prat though.

Anything by Sarah Douglass, but I particularly loved her adaptation of the Joan of Arc / Richard the Lionhearted stories and the whole angel/demon war that she played out. It's not for the fainthearted, especially what Margaret suffers through, and not entirely historically accurate - but still a good read.

Anything with Sparhawk in it. I can picture that craggy old Knight in my dreams and reading Eddings is always so easy on the mind.

Surprisingly enough I decided to begin re-reading The Wheel of Time again. I usually start at book one and work my way through as Jordan releases new novels to "refresh" on the story so to speak, but I figured I'd get a head start before the next chapter hits the streets. (If it ever does )

Then a spot of Pratchett, like most of us probably, for when I just want a giggle.

And I have a secret little love affair with Anne Rice - I think apart from Lestat that Memnoch is a work of literary sublimeness. It's just so twisted and convoluted and ... yes. The Mayfair series is not too bad either, but I've never been able to get really stuck into that.

And lastly, I have a surprising addiction to reading World of Darkness guidebooks. There's around 160 or so of them piled up on the floor of my study and I love thumbing through them. It fires up the imagination and makes me want to play a new campaigh. (I'm still looking for a game master capable of handling Kuei Jin)

Don't you wish all men were like him?

Some days, Stigg. Some days. There's something to be said for that rugged charm though. Too many men these days confuse being a gentleman with being a bit of a blouse. But that's a bit off the topic of books, isn't it?

I loved Cussler's books too, but he lost the plot after a while. I don't recall which book, I think it was about 6 or 7 into what he'd done (roughly) but that goes back a few years now

Give my anything by Neil Gaiman and I'm a happy boy! ^_^

Apart from that there's several authors I read: Alastair Reynolds, Terry Pratchett, Jonathan Stroud, Lian Hearn and Anne Rice just to mention some very few.
By the way, if you like sci-fi (and telepathy in particular) I recommend "The demolished man" by Alfred Bester.
