Please tell me anything about Southshore in Hillsbrad.
I've tried to go in there a couple of times and get killed by some unkillable humanoid:cry:

I've had lots of Horde quests around there and I've never seen Alliance around there like I have in Ashenvale

Tarren Mill, just North and very slightly east of Southshore is the Horde town.

And yes, there are lots of Horde quests there.

Only one reason to go "into" Southshore as a horde is to visit the GY to finish the Herculars Revenge quest.

Good luck with that if you are not a) a stealther or b) get some levels or c) do a corpse/rez run - those Southshore guards have an insane aggro range for the level you are when you try and complete that quest. Its not impossible, just very, very difficult to finish that without at least 1 death.

Ashenvale and Hillsbrad are both contested, but whereas Ashenvale is Alliance favoured Hillsbrad is Horde favoured.

 How you figure that?

Horde quest level 20-30+
Alliance usually start around 30 there, unless I'm mistaken.

I know when I played a NE, I did Goldshire, Westfall, Redridge, Duskwood, Wetlands, THEN Hillsbrad. Now as Horde it usually goes something like Durotar, Barrens, Hillsbrad. Much sooner, much lower level, much more
gank-a-fied.

In my experience it's more like Durotar, Barrens, Stonetalon, Thousand Needles/Hillsbrad.

Ok, maybe I should have said that Ashenvale is alliance favoured whereas Hillsbrad isn't.

If you want to do that quest at your regular level, I suggest taking a friend who is ready to play bait, so he pulls the guards while you get the grave. ;)

Yeah while Hillsbrad is contested, it's not really meant for alliance. I say this because to get there you need to walk through the arithi highlands... which is a higher level area. When I got there, I was disappointed that all the mobs were level 20-30, because I had just done a bunch of 30+ quests in Arithi.

Ashenvale is nice for both factions, since you can walk into it from darkshore, and the barrens. Both appropriately leveled areas to walk into ashenvale.

I need to level up a horde to experience hillsbrad fully. One of these days I'll start up a blood elf and join the masses =]

As far as Herculars Revenge is concerned, the lazy player might just opt for a potion of invicibility, had 6 players hidden on the SS graveyard one time, takeing turns activation Hercular.

I'd recommend Hillsbrad for Horde. It's really popular on my server too. A lot of fellow BEs there, but plenty of other races. The quests are excellent, plenty of good drops from humanoids. And although a lot of people look for groups for many of the quests, some play really well soloed, involving a bit of sneaking around.

The guy I'm levelling with said that Hillsbrad used to be the place to go for mass brawls before they had BGs. He said they used to crash the server having mad 100/200 v 100/200 fights between Southshore and Tarren Mill... Sounds like a laugh, and I don't even particularly like PvP...

True, some random ganking often resultet allout war with several guilds on each side, showing up with every last man, making Hillsbrad in to a battlefield of epic proportion. Try to do quests in the middle of that kind of rampage, was downright crazy, trying to find Herculars Rod when a pair of lvl 60mages went in to total aoe-mode on each other in the yeti caves, could take forever (not that it dosn't a long time normally)
