I am at the point where I need to decide which path to go. Basically all I've read is that armor tends to take more materials. But then again there are more armor slots than weapon slots.
Ive got some time to think about it, I would appreicate any input. Especially from high lvl blacksmiths.
Thanks

The site I look at when choosing things like this is: http://wow.crafterstome.com/recipes/blacksmithing.html
I think you're best looking at what suites your needs the best.
The BoP armours are pretty nice but my rogue friend has just ground from 1-375 just so he can have one of the BoP axes with one hell of a lot of damage on it.

A rogue with an axe ?
You sure you don't mean a sword ?

I might have meant mace
but the picture looks like an axe I'm sure
It'd be the Mace. The BoP mace is godly for rogues.

Thanks Mallstrop. That gives me some insight. Id really like to hear from someone who has had some experience in one of the two blacksmithing specialties.

I am a 360 hammersmith. I just crafted Thunder (tier 1 two-hand). If you are having doubts i say go with weapons specialization. Unless you plan on main tanking for the rest of your wow life then the armor is for you.
Thunder is a monster of a weapon. The armor that requires armorsmithing is all chest pieces. While the weapons are one or two handers. The chests look nice but again they offer most for Tanks. Whereas you will probably get more for you money with a weapon.
(FYI i still had to farm 20 primal air, 20 primal water, 7 hardened arcanite, and 12 khorium bars, but i am a miner so i had most already. If your willing to take up bsing and actually using the gear, god help you if your not a miner.)
