Hello all i havent been playing WoW that long but being the tecie i am i have to customize everything, and was thrilled to find the wow interface is modable(that a word?) anyway havent started looking in to moding it my self yet but i plan on it.

any way back on topic i was playing elier and i noticed a patern in the spells i use which is to be expected but thtas not the point.

ex. lets say theres a monster standing over away from me fist thing im proabbly going to do is send ted (my pet) over to grab the aggro nex i would fire a sting, based on what the monster typocaly I would use serpent sting, then id fire off an arcane shot and auto shot would do the rest until arcane shot cooled down in which case i would use it again but any way my mouse would hover over the arcane shot waiting for the cool down and in the event ted looses the agro and the monster comes over to me i would simlary hover over the raptor strike.

The idea: how about a button that changes based on what hapens say it starts out as serpent sting then goes to arcane shot then if the targeted monster comes in range of mele turns in to raptor strike mabe it could detect when your pets health got bellow a percent and change in to mend pet mabe if you get bellow a percent it turns to fegin death.

really this isnt practial for say instance and such or questing but i thought it might make grinding alot eiser

so tell me what you think of the idea and do you think this is too close to automation?

thx for reading sorry about any grammer/spelling mistakes and the lack of puncuation im rather tired i would go back and edit it but i have to go to sleep now so later

Certain parts of that wouldn't work. Mainly, the range detection for switching to melee skills.

But here's a macro that is a start to what you're trying to accomplish:
/petattack [nocombat]
/castsequence reset=combat/target Hunter's Mark, Serpent Sting, Arcane Shot

Here's what is does:
Click 1: sends your pet to attack and casts Hunter's Mark on the target.
Click 2: fires Serpent Sting.
Click 3: fires Arcane Shot.

After this it would loop back to Hunter's Mark, so it's only useful one time through on each target. After three clicks you'd have to go to your button/hotkey for Arcane Shot by itself.
I haven't tried this, but I think you could actually add more Arcane Shot entries to that castsequence line. So it could end with five Arcane Shots before it loops back, removing the need for switching to an AS hotkey.

The "reset=combat/target" will start the sequence over when you change targets or leave combat.

You may find that you don't like the [nocombat] option on /petattack, as it lets you change targets but keeps your pet on the same mob. Delete it to let your pet change targets with you, though I don't think that's a very good idea as then you'd be abandoning a partially dead mob. There are cases where you will want to do this, but I rarely do.

Also, some advice to a new Hunter: The instinct for Hunters is often to Serpent Sting a mob then spam Arcane Shot as often as possible until the mob is dead. While this does give a higher DPS and kills the mob faster, you might also be wasting some of your Serpent Sting damage. SS takes 15 seconds to do all it's damage. If you kill the mob before that 15 seconds is up, you've overdamaged, and wasted some of the mana it cost you to cast SS.

Here's the quick strategy to adjust to this:
The first mob you encounter of a certain kind; kill it without using Arcane Shot. Notice when SS wears off and how much health is left at that point. Divide that health by the amount of damage your AS does, and that'll give you a number of Arcane Shots you can safely take without overdamaging. It's an estimate, and can be affected by tons of factors during combat, but it gets more accurate the more mobs you do this to.

All of this is simply to conserve mana, mind you. Combat will take a little longer, but you'll spend less time regenerating mana afterwards. It's also nice practice for not stealing aggro from the tank in group situations. If you're fine with the rate at which you have to regenerate mana, feel free to ignore the advice. Happy hunting!
