Friday night I had a guildy joke with me and ask for gold on our /g ch, then he answered with "sure how much do you need" and it looked like I was answering.
I was busy, and just replied "tricky" and kept doing what I was doing (in an instance).
Well, I signed back on last night after being off for the weekend, and our key guildies had quit. One guy said people were using the "chat hack" and it pissed somebody off, and started a chain reaction....
well, sparing the drama of the guild funk, is there a hack? I suppose I saw something that a lv 3x player was using to joke with....
Thanks for any info,
Barry
From the sound of it- what they were doing isn't a 'Hack' just a childish prank.
If someone named Joe typed something like:
/g Who here is the biggest idiot? <Guild><Tom>I am! I am!
It would display as:
<Guild><Joe>Who here is the biggest idiot?
<Guild><Tom>I am! I am!
Most people will see through it- as the question/answer pop up at the same time... either way- if you do it, expect enemies.

No hacks that I know of. But you can make it look like someone is talking by spacing to the end of the line, and then typing [guild] Name: yadayadayada, or whatever the default line looks like. It wont look right to people who have resized thier window horizontally ( most havent), and people with chat mods that add time stamps or change the format.
No hacks, just fun with formatting.

I certainly would never use that with guildmates, but, it might be a fun too to annoy gankers and such.

thanks for the clarification.
Not sure why they quit, i only heard reports 24 hrs later. the bummer is it is a loss, half of them were good folk, and the only people near my level in the guild... but I'll still game with the good one's anyway, so I guess it doesnt' matter that much.
I think some of the 3x level guys are too expecting to be run through instances, and one of them was harassing a lv 56 because he didn't have time to take him, or something like that, and it got out of hand... Aparently the chat trick got things agrivated.
Thanks again for the info,
Barry

I've noticed a big increase in the lowbies wanting run-throughs....I've done a few, but have also noticed that if you do a few and then not for a bit, the lowbies depart for other guilds....
So, I'm not doing them anymore...unless I'm seriously bored...which is quite rare.

ye, they got too expecting with us too, I just figured we did it too often, so they thought it was the norm. I don't mind swinging by to help with an elite for a quest, but the run throughs got out of hand. That is likely what became the demise of our guild...
Thanks,
Barry

Ive only been playing a couple weeks but honestly why would you want a run through an instance, its way more fun to get a normal group and fight through.

a lot of times people just want the loot... but really after you do an instance three or more times and don't get your drop (or never win the roll for the drop), it can be frusterating. I agree, instances should be done at the right level range, but run-throughs have their place too, at least IMHO. I'm sure many disagree with me and feel as you do; there is certainly nothing wrong with that.
i've never had a run through... now as a healer I've been asked to do instances to high for me 'by a few levels' but not as a favor to me, but rather because an underleved healer is better than no healer (well, it depends, but it can be).
I am going to have a friend run my low level rogue I'm twinking through wc, just so I can make sure I get the drops I need.
Best Regards,
Barry
