Hi guys, im new to WOW, only been playing for just over 2 weeks. I noticed that addons can help with my game a lot and i wouldnt mind having a few. Problem is i downloaded some and put them into the right folder, but when i tried to use them in game it just comes up with use /help

Someone told me that i might need to tick allow old addons in character select screen but i cant see such option.

Can some1 tell me where im going wrong?

The addons i was trying r: titan, monkeymap, battle scroll text, and i wanted to find a location addon

Try downloading UI Central from here and download mods via that. It sets up and updates mods automatically.

Ok,

Make sure that you have the latest versions. If you got to the ui.wwn site they are clearly marked when updated - top right
Example http://ui.worldofwar.net/ui.php?id=1143

Titan panel should show your location, it's one of the default extras you get. Right click the bar at the top of the screen to access the titan options.

If I were you I would NOT load out-of-date addons until you have got the proper ones working.

Also once you've loaded the game and signed in but before you've loaded a toon click in the bottom left corner where it says addons, make sure they're checked off with no errors, I'd also recommend increasing your memory to say 72 or so for your few mods.

Titan has a coordinates feature so you have it.
You say you installed them in the right folders, I will assume this is correct. If it is when you start wow, log in and before you select a character, look for a red rectangular button saying addons. Click it it will list the addons you have installed correctly. If you do not see your add ons, you do not have them installed correctly. Make sure they are marked to be used, if they have a message next to them such as disabled or incompatible they are not loading.
