I have been wrestling with this problem all day. It just started today, was working fine yesterday, and it's driving me crazy. I can't connect to Worldofwarcraft.com because when I try, I get this:
The XML page cannot be displayed
Cannot view XML input using style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
XML document must have a top level element. Error processing resource 'http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/index.xml'.
I also cannot connect to the news page on the launcher, I believe for the same reason. Before giving any advice, I have tried the following:
Security options and enabled the normal stuff, deleting cookies, deleting temp files, rebooting (3 times), upgrading to IE 7 (I know, don't give me the IE talk I have firefox just too used to clicking IE first), downgrading back to IE 6, using firefox, and attempting to connect on other computers in the household (there are 4 others, all unable to do it). Obviously not a single computer in my house can access it, so if anyone could tell me if it's WoW side or my service provider side, I would greatly appreciate that or any other tips.
Secondly, I am unable to log onto my primary server. I was playing on it yesterday, and today when I went to log onto a friend's account to try out his flying mount, the world loaded, but it never went from the loading screen to the world itself. Just a full blue bar at the bottom and not even a hint of it lagging (like world sounds such as npcs, music, ambience, etc).
I tried logging onto my account on the same server, but it had the same issue. I logged onto a server where one of my other 60's were, and it worked fine, entered the world, ran around in it, etc. I logged onto another different server and tried making a character with the game, again, working perfectly fine. However, every time I would go back to my main server, the world won't load, just a full blue loading bar mocking me.
So I decided to see if making a new character would do the trick there, since none of my alts on that server worked either. After I hit "Accept" for my new character, I was stuck at the "Retrieving Character List" little window forever, until I was disconnected. Now, on neither account can I log onto my main server and even get the character screen since I am still stuck at the previously mentioned retrieval window. Would reinstalling the game fix this problem, or is it tied to my originally stated problem of connection to certain WoW sites/information?
Any input on either subject would be of great help. I looked up the first problem on google and all it had was a bunch of tips for people creating their own websites, not people trying to visit other people's xml information.
