I need help once again. I was able to pick up a new mobo, and get it installed. After loading up and logging in, I tried running a video that my friend had sent me before the comp died. Well, as soon as it starts playing, the screen goes dark, and unless I can somehow get to the X and cancel out wmp, the screen constantly flashes black (not every second; it stays black for a few, then flashed back to my desktop).

I thought, hmm...it's my monitor drivers. Well, couldnt find teh cd that came with my lcd screen. So, Im lost. I went online and searched google for drivers for my monitor (Flatron L1722P), and have a zip file of the supposed files, but without knowing where to put them, im lost. IF that is even the problem.

Help

Usually monitors don't need drivers, unless you're running a very strange one. Video cards on the other hand do. Start > run > type: 'dxdiag' without the quotes and read the video card specs. Go to the makers site and find the correct driver. windowsupdate.com is also a good fast way of updating common drivers. Go to custom update and look at the hardware updates available.

Hope that helps

thanks for the help thus far. I ran dxdiag, and all tests came up positive. nothing was wrong. But, I went to Nvidia's site and am downloading a driver that the site said to download. Hope this works.

Start switching parts, so at least you know what is wrong for a start. Grab a spare monitor, use that instead, see if it happens. Grab a spare PCI graphics card, plug it in and use that. Either one should give you a clear indication if the screen or graphics card is just crappy.
