Minimap yellow dot addon request...

Is there anyone out there who could develop an addon that makes the screen shake or a read frame around the UI or something....maybe a sound... when a yellow dot comes up on the minimap. Would be awsome for Herbalism...

Is this even doable? I have no clue since I am a naab!!

You're asking about changing the image of the tracked item in question, right? Like a red aura or change in hue to make the target stand out against it's background?

Re-read his post.
He's asking for something to alert him when he's running when a minimap dot appears on the minimap.
So he doesn't have to keep watching it while running i assume.

I looked in Wowwiki and did not see any event triggered by the dots appearing. So it looks like the answer is no, at least for now.

And yes, Auren. You understood me right. I keep forgetting checking the Minimap for these cute little dots. Would have been an kick ass addon to have an alert of some sort when they appear on the Minimap. =)

It is also not possible to ask wow how many itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka-dots there are visible on the map.

What Gatherer does is remember where YOU were when encountering a node. It then draws stuff on the minimap "hoping" for it to match with the actual dots (which it sometimes not quite does). So, no, the screen shake is not possible.

I seem to remember this being possible once upon a time, but having checked recently, it definitely seems like you can't detect when they appear... Whether Blizz changed it in a Patch at some point, or my memory is just faulty, I'm not sure ;)

There is one (ugly, though) workaround. Spawn 1x1 minimap under cursor, parse tooltip on next frame, then restore things back. You get the idea...
