OK I have questions about the Auction House:

1. What does "buyout" mean?

2. I just bid 12 silver on a staff. The game took my 12 silver but when I went under the "bids" tab,the staff didn't appear. Is that bad? how do I track my bid?

3. If I win a bid and I'm offline do I still get the item?

-Thanks alot:blush:

1. Buyout is the price that you can simply buy the item for. Without even bidding.

2. Yes, that is to stop you from over bidding. (Bidding more gold than you have). If the buyout price and the bid price are the same, the item will automatically be purchased for you. So that might explain why it's not showing up under bids.

3. Online or offline, it gets delivered to you via mail. So go check the mailbox!

Buyout is the same as Ebays "Buy it Now" feature. You can bid on an item, or you can pay a higher price to win th auction and get your item immediately---this is a buyout.

So are you saying that the item could be in my mailbox right now?

Possibly. If you have new mail, there should be a mail icon in the top right of your screen by your map.

remember, mail w/ just gold gets delivered almost immediately. letters and items take between 1-3 hours (usually closer to 1, depends on server load) to be delivered, so be patient

Thats true for regular mail, but not for items mailed when won in AH, or for losing AH bids. They show up immediately.

When you place a bid, they take the money. If someone outbids you, you'll immediately get mail saying you've been outbid, and your money will be an attachment. This way, you know right away if you want to go back and bid higher.

If you click 'buyout' it will deduct that amount from your money, and you'll see a mail icon pop up by your mini-map immediately...they item is waiting for you in the mail.

Tricky thing about the AH is how to find stuff. Here's some quick tips: Back slot is always cloth, regardless of class. So look in Armor > Cloth. Neck & Finger slot is Armor > Miscelanious. So for these slots, do not look in the class specific sections of the Auction House.

Of course, kcma is neglecting to mention that regular scans give you a reasonable indicative price of items on your server, thus allowing you to better understand the particular economy on that server.

Also it allows you to easily search for bargains that *should* net you a certain amount / percentage of profit. Those indicators have been fairly accurate for me.

You must always crosscheck them though against the listed prices, because some muppets will try to poison the auction house data pools.

While you can always scan the AH, Auctioneer addon gives you the recommended pricing for the AH when you are examining at item out in the game, so you can decide to ditch it, vendor it, or AH it.

And, as Tanitha stated, don't necessarily believe the pricing from Auctioneer. I never list anything without first checking the current listings, since some knucklehead will have 4 stacks of light leather listed at 50gold each, or at 5 gold each, skewing the data either way.

And I keep a list of my most frequently sold items and their approximate value, so if one of those items is being dumped in the AH for too low a price, I'll sit on it for a day or two and check back.
