Hi Mod Authors,

I'm a writer and I'm interested in developing a story about the pressures involved in coding ui mods for the WOW community. Modding takes time and effort. Even small mods take hours and I know the big mod projects have consumed weeks or months of man-hours to implement. To make it worse, some of you receive no compensation other than a rude comment about bugs or some random feature request.

I'm looking for people willing to be interviewed for the article. If you have any great stories about how you cope with the demands of the community on your coding skills and time, please send me a PM. If you ever thought about quitting, have actually quit modding to just play WOW more, or wonder why you ever started coding in the first place, send me a PM. If you have ever wanted to say "WTF people! I just need some time to sleep! Stop commenting/emailing/PMing me!" Now's your chance.

Send me a PM and I'll collect everything and write an article which will highlight the efforts you put into each of your mods. And of course, if you'd rather stay anonymous, that's cool too, but your story can still be told.

Does anyone want to tell their story? Or does anyone know an author who has a great story to tell and who may perhaps not check these forums anymore?

Please help a desperately researching writer...

"who may perhaps not check these forums anymore?"
yap, THATs the point *G*

and may not all developper are tired of coding. some ppl (like me) love it to share the selfmade addon to other ppl. and its possible to delete the "rude comments", because most of the time they're absolutely nonsense and useless!

...
may you could give us a picture, WHAT exactly your article is about. it sounds a little bit unbalanced between the negatives and the positives about coding addons.

well, sure there are a LOT of stupid, rude comments. most of them dont have ANY constructive input in it, and gets deleted very fast. so... who cares about some stupid players which are to dumb for reading the readme or the FAQ.

developping own addons is a pretty funnie thing - if you LIKE programming and puzzling arround, reading a LOT of stuff behind the mechanics of a game etc... it gives WoW a LOT more content than just "farming arround".
i like it, writing my own tools, modifying the addons like I want them to be.

and... coding in WoW could show yourself, how BUGGED wow REALLY is!
wow is NOT perfect. so your addons dont have to be!
about the comunity: most of them have NO idea. they think: "each addon works perfectly with ALL other addons i already got, and is simple, intuitive to use"... well... they play WoW... the ONLY game i know where you ALWAYS have more than 60 buttons to klick on your screen! (including all actionbars and addons on your screen or minimap)

btw: sorry 'bout my bad english...
