I'm a lvl.30 hunter with mining and skining. I got my skinning to 225 and my mining to 130. Should I drop mining for LW?

Ask yourself this:
"Why do I want to drop mining for leatherworking?"
You will find at least part of the answer there. I know that seems unhelpful, but I really do not understand why people ask these types of questions. Perhaps if you indicated why you want to drop the profession?
If you are finding yourself lacking in one area - then it should be a simple enough decision to make. If you do not find yourself lacking - why
change?

Mining is good for making money and skining isnt good but if i was doing lw i would be able to make my own armour. I have 130g so that enough for my mount and I can do dragonscale to make mail.

So you want to drop Mining to make your own armour. Have you compared what you can make via Leatherworking to what you can buy off the AH or get in instances?

The AH dosen't have that much. I do instances but whats in them would be around the same as the AH.

Skinning is good for making money. I can make 2-3 gold per day on stacks of leather if I wanted to, just selling to the vendor. In fact, farming ore/skins/herbs is one of the fastest ways to get gold.
Until you get to 300+, you'll find that most of the stuff you can make won't be as good as the stuff you can buy on the AH, unless you aren't spending any time searching the AH. Try searching the AH with a few levels over where you are, you should always be planning for the future with armor/weapons. I use auctioneer so I don't remember if the regular AH GUI allows you to put in levels.

With elemental(which I paid 50g to switch to since I first did Tribal to make Devilsaur for my rogue)there is a blue bop at 65, and then 2 or 3 pieces of epic gear at 70(assuming all lw's have patterns at similar levels)...all requiring expensive mats and part of the latter requiring Primal Nether which comes from Heroic dungeons. To answer your question, no I would not level a profession just to make yourself equipment, or just to make money. Equipment will become easily upgraded and then eventually you may be stuck with a profession with no use. I've often wished I originally did something useful like engineering(just for cables/transporter)or alchemy. Dont expect to make a lot of money with professions, especially crafting professions since you'll find yourself pouring alot of money into them to make the stuff/skill up.

i'll stick to mining then. I can always ask a guildie to make me stuff and I'll supply the mats. I'll have to wait untill saturday to join the guild.

That's a wise decision. Mining will provide you with all the money you need to buy equipment you like.
LWing won't and it will leave you with the real existing problem how to get back they money you dumped into skilling it up. And it doesn't even provide you with fun stuff to use, like Engineering.
If you want a change, you should drop skinning and pick up Engineering. Your income will shrink, but only slightly as skinning is not that profitable (especially not compared to mining).

plus the stuff ypu make out of leather is not much good for you when you reach lvl 40 and above yes you make mail but still not on par with black smithing armour and as said engineering is a great trade to take up

i dont understand how you think skinning isnt profitable....clefthoof leather, and stacks of knothide sell for a decent amount of gold....
even on my overflooded economy

1 stack of knothide - 15-20g
1 heavy knothide - 8g
1 stack of thorium - 16-20g
Buying anything you want with all that cash? Priceless!

yup there are some who are big believers in just having two gathering professions all the way to lvl cap. you'll be drowning in gold by the time you get there. build up enough stock piles of the yellow stuff so you can switch out and speed lvl a crafting profession later. mining especially with jc now is a big money maker. once i hit 70, skinning will probably bite the dust as money no longer is a big issue and i dont need the mats i get from it anymore. enchanting (or as i like to call it money sink v2.0) here i come.
