Here's my question:

Deploying to Iraq in three weeks or so. We're supposed to have internet access over there. Right now, my account's on a US realm, so I'm wondering if I'll still be able to log on and play with my current account, or will I need to purchase, like, the EU version of WOW or something in order to play, and create another account? I'm not sure where the IP of the access is going to be based, but it's prolly not gonna be US =) And I'm not sure if it's possible to play WOW through a proxy, and if it is I'm sure Blizzard would frown upon it. Having some wow would make those 18 months go by A LOT quicker....preferably by playing my current account, but I've no problem w/ creating a new on in order to occupy my time. Thanks in advance for any info.

Best of luck to wowjason and Chemm if you end up over there. Keep your head down and your chin up.

Not sure where your going in Iraq and its been more than a year since my most recent trip there, but in my last trip we did finally get internet access the first two tours we didn't have it. It isn't so much personal access as it is a internet cafe that is run via satalite. The connection is terrible to start with, it is a secure connection so it runs even slower, and there is a 30 minute time limit before you have to give up your computer for someone else to use.

I did know a guy that played DAOC and he was one of the Marines that ran the cafe. He was able to log on and look at the ground and chat with his guild. Anything other than that would cause him to crash.

Times may have changes but last I knew it wasn't possible even though there was internet. Good luck to you.
