I have a problem. I just tried logging into WoW and it seems I'm missing a file. Yesterday, I went through the WoW folder cleaning up some files and I think I may have accidentally deleted the file. It's a very simply file, but the game won't run without it.

I can't get it off my discs because I cannot find the discs, and as such, I cannot reinstall either.

Does anyone think they can send me the file "DivxDecoder.dll?" It should be within the root WoW folder.

If this isn't allowed here, I'm very sorry, but I'm stuck without WoW. Even if I could get a downloaded installer, it would take quite some time that I just don't have.

Nevermind. It seems my game is even more damaged than that. I think somebody may have been on my computer when they weren't supposed to be.

Thanks anyway to anyone that would've helped, but I have to begin a three-hour reinstall-repatch.

Try running repair.exe that is found in your wow folder. It seems to go through, check everything, then reapir anything that is wrong.

The repair utility won't work for this. The entire DATA folder is GONE. Many files from the root are missing and a few files from various folders as well. It seems somebody was tampering with the game, and I may have to make regular backups this time.

Edit: Where can I find a downloadable installer? My discs are also mysteriously gone now.

Go to Walmart (or where ever) and buy a WoW trial DVD Disc. It a full install disc. Its like $3 I think. :)

That might be unwise. Hide the remote control or something - but all you're out is a deleted game folder, some effort and some game time. Frustrating and sickening as that is - smashing a TV and an XBox could land you in a lot of trouble.

And if it's your PC, then password protect it, and take your power cord from the tower with you when you leave the premises.

OOOOO if this person drives do this. Get some peanut butter (the chunkier the better) and smear it underneath the car, ya know behind the wheels and in very hard to see places. Or if its an older car, take off the hubcaps and put it there. In about 2 weeks time that peanutbutter will start to rot and it trust me when I say this, It smells worse than rotting fish.

Its just a game, and its not even your PC. You can't expect any level of security on a shared PC. Think about what your about to do. If they didn't actually get into your account, all of your in game stuff is still there, that's not stored on your PC.

Retaliation can only lead to more trouble (possibly jail time). Is it really worth smashing a $1500 xbox or a $4500 tv over $60 worth of software?

You might be able to reinstall using someone elses disks as long as you have your own account to log into. Download the patches from this site, much faster than the Bliz site. Save the patches to CD's. I've had to reinstall a few times and this has saved me a lot of time.
