Auction House questions...

I'm sure these have been asked a few times, but I'm having trouble quickly sifting through all the search results...

My questions are:

When I go to the auction house, are all the items in the auction for the whole realm, or just for items that have been listed at that particular AH?

Every time I go to the auction house in Stormwind, there is nothing there...

Is there a mod where I can check things in the auction without actually travelling all the way to the AH?

Is there a mod that will show me every item for sale/up for bid on the entire server? (assuming what I asked in the first question is true)...

The mail auction hauses are linked (SW and IF for alliance). so u should see al of it*. there is no mod to easy check the AH while not there, But a lvl5 alt running between the mailbox and the AH does wonders :)


*Unless your on some private server still running version 1.0 . But you wouldnt do that eh ?

The auction houses in Stormwind, Ironforge, Exodar and Darnassus will all show each others' auctions.

The auction houses in Ogrimmar, Thunder Bluff, Undercity and $BLOOD_ELF_CITY (heh,alliance player) will all show each others' auctions.

The auction houses in Booty Bay, Everlook and Gadgetztan will all show each others' auctions.

Every time I go to the auction house in Stormwind, there is nothing there...

That is surprising... do you mean there is nothing on the first screen? Try pushing "search".

No. As somebody else suggested, having a lvl 1 alt who lives next to the auction house helps a lot here! You can mail stuff to him to sell.

You nearly get that in Stormwind, since few people use the neutral AHs (Booty Bay, etc).

As others have stated, all the allied faction Auction Houses are linked. So if you play Alliance, you will see everything that is on Alliance Auction Houses, Horde will see Horde. There is a Neutral Auction House system in the goblin cities, which is separte, but viewable by either faction. It's not used as much because the Goblins take a bigger cut of the profits of anything you sell. (Normally it's 5%, but the goblins take 15%)

By default, the screen is blank. There are thousands of items on Auction at any one time, to list them all right at the start isn't very helpful. On the left you will see categories so you can refine your search, and within those are subcategories. For example, you can click on the Weapons tab, and it will open to show you a list of specific weapon types (1-hand swords, 1-hand maces, staves, etc.). You could search for all weapons, or refine your search to something more specific. There is also a space for you to type in a keyword if you have an idea of what you're looking for. Once you're selected your parameters, press Search, and it will list everything that fits into your search parameters. If it's still blank, then there is nothing on sale at the moment that fits your specifics. (If you used the keyword search, ensure that you spelled the word correctly, and that it's not pluralized. If you look for 'Robes', you will miss anything that is labelled as Robe, for example).

Nothing that will check while you're not at the Auction House. There is a mod called Auctioneer, which adds a lot of options, and keeps a record of how things are selling on the Auction House. This can help you decide if an item is worth buying (i.e. someone didn't put the item up for way more than it's usually worth), as well as to help you decide how much to sell something for.

Again, you can only see what is on your Faction side, or what's on the Neutral Auction House. If you are on a PvE server, you could roll an alt on the opposite faction to see their auctions, but that won't really serve any purpose. There is no cross-faction trading beyond the Neutral Auction House, so trying to get things between characters on different factions is rather convoluted and probably not worth the while.

Don't forget, the AH is for selling too. Use your profession and any drops to make up for the cash you're spending there.
