Ok, I'll start from the beginning.
When I login it goes as far as connecting to the server, then basically halts on the "Connected" message, I can cancel it and select the server again, after a few tried it connects.
Once I'm in the game, I basically can do everything, but it's like I can't talk to the server, the lat sits on the same value from the time it connects, casting spells just makes his hands glow, then nothing, like it's lagging.
The stranger thing is that I can see other people running around doing stuff, although a little laggy, I can see what they do. Ontop of that most peoples names are left as "Unknown", and half the players aren't wearing any clothes.

I can't logout, and even the exit game button doesn't work.

Then after a few minutes at the end of all this I get disconnected.

It started happening more and more lately, now it won't work properly at all. It seemed to affect me at first when I went into Stormwind, but now all my characters are doing the same.

Heeeeeeeeeelp!

It sounds like lag, serious latency issues. Is normal internet browsing OK still?

Try downloading a large file from somewhere and see how long that takes.

If UK based try this site, it gives you an estimated time for the download to take

Problems like this often go away on their own, if it persists then you will want to raise a fault call with your ISP I guess.

It's defiantely not lag, I can rule that out. I have played fine on this connection when it's been capped to 56k, and it's definately goin faster than that.

Checking the WoW support page the symptoms point towards the fact that theres a problem with my computer connecting to the server.

Also my flatmates computer is running it fine, with my account, on the same connection, running through the same routers.

Changed your firewall recently? I *think* this sounds like the time when my friend blocked certain ports.

Your installation could have become corrupted in some way.

Have you tried wiping your WOW folder and re-installing?

Alternatively (if you can't bear the thought of applying all of those patches again!) try copying your flatmate's copy directly over to your PC.

Paul.

I've been experiencing this more and more. Super-long loading screens, frozen and halting gameplay followed by disconnect...
I'm trying the re-install. Currently at 54 % of 1.12.0. Oh the glory of Blizz downloader.

I've tried with my firewall turned off totally, no difference.

I tried re-installing, and copying from my flatmate, still not difference.

Following blizzards suggestions I downloaded the latest drivers for my network card and updated that (not sure if they were actually newer though).

My next idea is to see if it's one of the routers, as my connection is currently running through two routers.

Failing that I'll have to find my windows cd and do a repair.

After you try the router, try using another NIC card instead of using your computer's current. Worth a shot, especially if it saves you breaking out the OS CD.

Good idea, to bad I don't have a spare one lying around :P

Even still I doubt that would be ti, everything else works perfectly well.

It does seem unlikely. But it has solved two problems identical to this, everything else worked fine for them too except for the game, it's always worth a try, and it's fairly easy to try, surely there's an old rig or a secondary system you can borrow one from for testing?

the half of everyone being naked seems pretty normal to me...what server are you on? ;)

as far as everything else, have you tried a different server to see if if was just your one server? it may not be a problem with your computer, but an issue along the pathway to the server at blizz...does their website load fine for you? and try a few other servers to see if there is a problem with just the one youre on

Update your network drivers and try again.

Also, if you use a router, make sure your ports are configured correctly, i know this has been mentioned before, but from time to time, my router will swap IP address between my computers for some odd reason and when it does i have to go
cmd prompt
/ipconfig
check ip and make sure router is configured with whatever ip pops up
otherwise i get EXACT same symptons as you

edit: spelling

Yeah, I've had the same exact problem as the OP twice. And each time, all I had to do was get the latest network drivers for my computer and everything magically was fine again.

Not around my flat no, I'll try source one from somewhere though. I just did a windows repair and that hasn't changed anything! The only options left are the network card and a full re-installation of windows :(

The new network card is worth a shot, less of a pain than a full reinstall. And if it works, trouble solved. If it doesn't, well it would have been a good last crack before wipage.
