My 70's sitting in Nagrand right now, and I don't really feel like getting on her unless I need some gold, or about to do Karazhan. So I rolled a Human Mage.

She is now level 12, with two points in Frost and one in Fire.

For soloing, what is a better spec?

I know Frost is preferred for dungeons and groups, as it's easier to kite and control enemies. But the pure damage Fire offers is just appealing to me.

Any tips or suggestions before I get too high up and have to spend money respecing?

Although yes this belongs in the Mage forum and will most likely be moved there here is the wisdom shared by most:

10 - 40 Fire
41 - 60 Frost
61 - 70 Fire
70 Frost

Not the route I took. I stayed fire until 45 (when I ran across fire resistant mobs). I am still frost at 63 and will not respect to fire.

Playing both I image you can run either one from 10(1) to 70.

I have found it really comes down to playing each role to the best of your ability. I group with a fire mage (64) and we are pretty equal. He does more up front damage but drinks between each mob. I take longer to kill but can go 2 to 3 mobs w/o refueling. About the same xp/hour averaged out.

I will probably respec to fire at the end for the maximum dps for my guild raids.

I bet a lot of folks that are new here probably don't know of the other forums. Take the time to read through things this is a fantastic site!

An admin can move it to that forum if he or she wants.

Thanks for the info Hoonah. I'm still figuring out what works best for me in terms of a mage.
