Take the zeppelin to Grom'gol Basecamp in Stranglethorn Vale and run north to Duskwood. At the intersection in Duskwood take east (right) and follow the road till you aproach Darkshire. You'd better take a wide path around this place, running along the south and east side of Darkshire. Take the road east again through the gray, lifeless area (don't recall its name), and into Swamp of sorrows. Keep to the road and take the southern road, then keep on straight ahead and you'll be in Stonard.

The whole trip should take you 10-15 minutes if running on foot and not interrupted.

Bah, I was hoping this was going to be a good lore question then such as "Where is Stonard's twin town Rockard gone to?"

When the orcs first arrived from Draenor, they initially began their invasion of Azeroth in the Swamp of Sorrows. Constructing the twin towns of Rockard and Stonard, and only later Blackrock Spire, the Swamp was their base of operations from which they assaulted Goldshire, Grand Hamlet and other human towns.

And from WC1

Here beats the diseased and malevolent heart of Blackhand's plagued lands. The sister towns of Rockard and Stonard are all that stand between the forces of the kingdom and Blackhand's stronghold - Black Rock Spire. After conferring with your warchiefs, the path to victory lays clear. You must destroy Rockard and Stonard, thereby cutting off all lines of support and supplies, so that the final offensive can be made upon Black Rock Spire.

I think the great question would be "Where is it now in WoW?" More than "What was Rockard's history?" If we knew Rockard existed, we should be plenty aware of the historical context and it's refreshment would do little to fill in any blanks.

Rockard doesn't appear in WoW anywhere only in WC1.

A lot of towns vanished into the great beyond of discarded lore. Hell, half the WC3 maps don't even make the slightest lick of sense in WoW terms.

A retcon here, a vanishing loc there.... Amazing what you can erase.

Although if anything from WC1 holds - Blackrock was built by a lot more than orcs, ne? - Rockard would probably be somewhere in Redridge, as that'd put it on the line from the Dark Portal, straight through both towns, towards Blackrock. Probably the remnants are what makes up the Blackrock camp in the southeast of Redridge.

These were great directions except you run along north and east of Darkshire. I met one ally guard and me and the void pwnd him. Woot!
