they are places where both the horde and the alliance can go and basicually have a big fight and beat each other up. its like 1 team vs the other and they have 2 capture each others flags and the team with the most points at the end wins (iv only been a few times so im stil a bit of a newbie 2 them , but they are very fun when u can eventually get into 1)

There are 5 battlegrounds.

Warsong Gulch - Both teams start on their "Side" of the field in a base. Inside the base is a flag...the first team to succesfully grab the other teams flag and bring it back to their own flag 3 times wins.

Arathi Basin - 5 "resources" spread out across the land that you must control to get points. The more you control and the longer you control them the fast you accumulate points. The first team to 2000 points wins.

Alterac Valley: Kill the opposing teams general before they kill yours.

Eye of the Storm: No idea...

Arenas: 2v2, 3v3, or 5v5. Duke it out in a close quartered arena. (also the only BG where you can face your own faciton.

i haven't been able to find warsong gulch.. is it in kalimdor?

The BG are a safe PvP environment. It's a place to do PvP if you're nervous about getting camped or bored looking/waiting for someone who is flagged.
