Anyone know a good place to farm for thorium? I'm high ennough level that i can go anywhere in azeroth so that isn't a worry.

Depending on your class and spec, the ooze covered thorium spawns inside the Silithid nests in Silithus were rarely farmed even before expansion. A rogue I knew regularly stealthed in, killed a couple of wossnames and got his ore.

There are spawns in Azshara that were rarely farmed too - some under water in the bay. If you have gatherer installed it's easy to find them again.

Failing that the usual places are EPL and The Burning Steppes.

As a 62 pally, you may have issues getting into the hives for the ooze covered guys. There are some small thorium spawns randomly around silithus.

The rich thorium veins in EPL spawn in the scar's (the one by lights hope and the one by corin's crossing). Some small thorium spawn around.

Some thorium spawns in winterspring. I farmed that a bit (I'm a druid, so I have easy access).

Burning Steppes has them around the outside wall.

I never found too too many in ashara, but I liked going there for the herbs more than anything.

I need to get around to farming more... I need tons of thorium for my jewel crafting.

Winterspring is decent as well. I got this recomended over any other place in azeroth by more experienced miners (more experienced than me at least ;) ).
Un'goro has some as well, the SW part and the in the middle.

Ok hard to give up this secret (maybe not as big a secret as I am thinking) but since I am past this point here it goes. Now you really should be level 70 for this and being a rogue would make it even easier but in Wintersprings if you go all the way back to where the Elite Giants are then past them. There are a series of tunnels that open up into mini sections about 5 in total. If you run through this whole back area there are a total of I believe 5 random Rich Thorium mines back there.

I have mined about 60 thorium a session each time which is not only good gold but if your a JC'er a god send. All the mobs are Demon Elites and even at level 60 they hit like a Truck but at level 70 you can pretty much walk right by them.

Hope this helps!

Yeah all those spots are good... once I hit 65 on my hunter who's my highest leveled miner I'm going to Silithus in the bug caves... there are a ton of ooze covered veins there. Only issue is getting by them... but by lvl 65 they'll hit like sissies and it'll be like fighting regular mobs in outland.

I farmed the ones in silithis also but found Wintersprings to be easier and more plentiful. Also there is usually one or two rich mines in the cave with all the yeti's in Wintersprings then maybe one up the road on your left (3 caves with moonkins around them) heading to the elite caves that I spoke about earlier. Another nice spot in that zone is the big cave with all the dragon elites.

Winterspring rules for thorium!

Yeah when I got fed up with my hunter I used to just log him out in the yeti caves and mine the one in there... there is one small and one rich. There always seemed to be way more in more compact area in the bug tunnels though. I just never had a miner to mine them. I never went too far into the elite demon area... maybe I'll give that a try soon.

A guildie of mine showed me his route through the plaguelands. Since the last patch upped the thorium drop, I used to get 60-80+ thorium for a 1.5hr session.

You basically start at chillwild, head over to harthglen and circle around the outside. There are about 8 spawn points but only 1 will be up at any one time. You head over to the ooze cave to the northeast.... head into EPL and hit both scars, tyrs hand, the noxious glade, and troll pyramid near the ghostlands. There are a handful of small thorium veins thrown about there too. I'd head through, hit lights hope to do bag management, head over to the troll pyramind, back to lights hope and fly back to chillwind.

A couple weeks of this got my from 225 to 300 jewel crafting... the most painful 75 pts you'll ever get.

The Un'Goro Crater has some rich, and Burning steps has rich also..

Winterspring is good if you are both a skinner and a miner. Simply camp around the yetis in the cave east of Everlook.

At 70 silithus is easily the best place to mine thorium. As a rogue I was averaging over 1 thorium ore per minute there. I got 280 in about 4 hrs along with 17 arcane crystals while going afk several times and taking a spin around winterspring before i went to silithus. I'm guessing no one else was farming in silithus at the time or we were on opposing cycles/laps because every hive tunnel always had at least one but often 3 thorium veins.

The hives are pretty decent but the problem I seen there if you are not a rogue is you have to stop and fight 1 maybe 2 58 59 elites constantly to get to the mines. Not to hard if your level 70 but it stops the mining grind. The caves up in Wintersprings are nice because you can get to each mine without really ever having to engage any mobs.

I've seen small thorium dotted around the Blasted Lands. Nothing crazy, but then again I don't see THAT much horde run through unlike say Searing Gorge.
