Okay, yes I'm new.............HI!!!!

I've played Guildwars for the past 2 years and have decided to try something new.

Like most games of this type I usually focus on 1 core character to begin with that would be my main farming/money maker to fund future characters.

So, I need some expert opinions on what that class/profession combination would be.

Should I make a warrior and have my professions as blacksmithing & mining? Does this make any sense to do this or is there a better option.

If someone with experience would give me some expert advice or point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mystic

Hi kcma,

Thanks for the reply.

Hunter with no profession huh. Is hunter kinda like the ranger class with trapping skills. I just love rangers!

If so, then Im guessing this is a good farming class.

If I go as a Hunter, is there a Race thats preferred over other Races. (Im thinking in terms of location for better farming spots.)

I have a 68 hunter and love it..

yes.......is a form of a ranger class without some of the buffs a ranger can do.

can trap for sure

at level 10 ( about 4 hours playing time...maybe less) you get a quest for a pet.

your pet is used for tanking and damage as you stand back and fire away at the baddies.

Hunter is great solo class.

i have a orc hunter........ i choose orc for Horde instead of alliance

profession wise you could choose (2) gathering professions just to generate some coin while you quest.

I choose Leatherworking and skinning. Training can be expensive so be VERY carefull what you train for if you choose a profession. 80% of the items I can make.. I never use...

I suggest you play a few that look interesting to you. As oxhammer stated, you can get to level 10 in just a few hours, and if you can stick with it up to lvl 20, you get a fairly good idea of the direction in which you're headed. If it isn't holding your interest, start another. You can save the first one for later, or use it as your Auction House gofer.

Thanks for all the replies. Ill make a hunter later, but I'll work on the Warlock I have at level 5 first just to see if I like it. both classes seem interesting and appear to be good solo classes.

ya I timed it to see who fast I could get there. .....and I know it can be done quicker. All I did was do one quest after another. Plus I know the area's having had other characters .........once you know the game you dont need to wander around as much with your new characters....its get your quest done and move to the next one...and you can level fast at early levels.

When you're new, don't be afraid to ask for directions in general chat. It will save you literally hours of searching for the quests you're working on. Fruitless wandering is not a good use of time. I used to ask, and now I answer.

The destination is irrelevant. its the journey that counts

To OP: Hunter is the easiest PvE (non-player vs player) class in the game. If you pick herbalism or mining and skinning as your professions, you can sell all the materials you gather on the auction house.

Almost as easy is a warlock. Same basic deal as a hunter. You have a pet and your attacking from range. With a warlock though, you're playing a class that has great player vs player potential in case you decide to PVP later on.

What did you play primarily in Guildwars?

The characters aren't really that different, and so whatever you were used to in GW you should be comfortable with in WoW. When I played GW I was always a fire ele, though I would respec to air for pvp (when spiking was still a new thing). I also quite enjoyed playing a necro, so when I went to WoW I decided between mage and warlock. I went with warlock and quite enjoyed it.

I'd pick a hunter if I was you. They are the funnest and fastest levelers in my opinion. I wouldn't worry about a profession until a higher level. They just waist all your gold and slow you down at lower levels, and really don't even make you that much money at lower levels.

My professions of skinning and herbalism are the way I have been able to afford training for my druid. Being my first toon on a new server, I started with no money at all, and selling those in the AH has me up to about 80G so far. If I started again today, I would do the same thing.
