Fly only areas in BC

Has anyone found what these so called fly only areas like the ones in blades edge are all about yet.

I feel i have done all quests in that area well certain i have and can no longer find any quests to do and non as yet have made me to go to these fly only areas, i do have my flying mount now and searched these areas as low as i could to the ground but no npc just lots as it seems elite mobs.

so what are they for are there for more implimented content at a later date or am i missing something

I'm less than an hour away from level 70 and my flying mount. Is there a web resource that lists the areas only available via flight? I'm interested in seeing those new locations and playing there...

Also, are there places one should avoid while flying? Just the other day I was killed by an earthquake while hiding from what looked like a fel reaver, so I'd like to avoid that sort of thing while flying.

There is an area in Nagrand that is only accessible by flying, and is populated by level 70 to 72 normal elemental mobs, allowing you to farm fire, earth, air and water motes, which can eventually lead to some nice money.

A couple of the dungeons in Netherstorm are only accessible by flying mount, as you cannot have a warlock summon you to the platform.

Those are just two examples.

There are a few quest chains in Shadowmoon that require a mount as well. Well, only one that I've found so far that absolutely requires a mount (or flying form), the other one I've found can be handled by a warlock summon, but the warlock and assistants would have to have mounts.

I haven't found any quests that send me into those blades edge areas or the spot in Nagrand.

I've found those ones in Blade's Edge, they seem to be for farming faction I believe.

There are a few quests that require you to fly, but I'm not aware of any quests that you can't pick up unless you have a flying mount.

Not going to tell you where, but almost EVERY zone has an area (Some quite large) that is only accessible with a flying mount. Most of the areas has L60-62 mobs.

Where is this magical area you speak of? I need Primal Air to make my Cobrahide Leg Armor so I need to farm Motes of Air. :shocked:

and a FYI - I just got my flying mount last night and was checking out a horde camp... DON'T do this! There are flying guards that throw flaming rocks at you and knock you off your mount, dropping you to the ground. I got lucky - I was outside the camp and low enough to survive the fall.

When you fly you DO gain agro the same as when you ride a ground mount. I assume I can also be dismounted in the same way.

Still, it rocks! All the places that at 70 I was still forced to avoid when traveling I can now do a fly-by...it totally rocks! You can fly straight up in the air, you can fly level and use the left mouse button to look around...pressing the space bar puts you in a gentle climb...

It's totally worth the trouble I went through getting the gold together.

When you fly over a town of the opposite faction you get a debuff called a guard mark. When you see this, I'd both decend and leave quickly. As penny painfully figured out, they'll throw rocks at you and knock you off your mount.

Areas I know about:
1) Throne of Kiljaden in Hellfire -- go play with Doom Lord Kazzak
2) Elemental Plateu -- behind the thrown of elements. It's a heavily farmed location for motes/primals
3) out behind the allerian stronghold in Tekkar is an area with high level birdmen and water elementals.
4) Netherwing Cliffs (?) in southeast shadowmoon valley
5) a small island northwest in Netherstorm (haven't been there)
6) tempest keep

There are some mountains in Hellfire, but nothing is up there.

doomwalker, outdoor raid boss. the earthquake ability has a 100 yrad radius and does 4 ticks of 2000 damage each. he stands in front of the black temple entrance. The only way to avoid dying to this is to have more than 8000 life when he starts the ability.

that said, unless you are in a raid and waiting to kill this guy, there is no reason to go near him :)
