View Full Version : Does the cost of respeccing go down over time?

Hi.

As above. I'm almost certain I read somewhere that if you respec once, and don't do it again for some time, the cost will gradually deteriorate to the original respeccing price.

For example, if it costs 1g to respec, and the next step up is 10g, but I don't respec for a month (or several), the next time I want to respec it will cost 1g, and not 10g.

Is this concept correct? I tried looking for the bit of info I read, but I can't remember where I read it. If it is true, can someone give me a link to refresh my memory?

Thank you.

Yep...except it goes 1, 5, 10, 15, etc.

No link though....its in the patch notes somewhere.

It will never go higher than 50g (I reached that at level 40 /sigh)... and if you don't respec for a month it goes down to the previous level.

e.g. If it costs you 5g to respec, and you don't respec for a month, it goes down to 1g.

The way the reduction works is by 5G per month to a minimum of 10G (may be 5G but I think 10).

So you could respec once a month at a cost of 10G a pop if you were that way inclined.

5g is the min decay i believe.

It occured to me after reading the posts to have a look in WoWwiki. I don't know if I can post a link to WoWwiki, but this is what I got from the Patch 1.11 (Release Notes):

General
The cost to unlearn talents will now decay over time. This cost will be reduced by a rate of 5 gold per month to a minimum of 10 gold.

Does this mean that the first two re-specs of 1 gold and 5 gold can only be used once? So if I respec the first time at 1 gold, and then the second time at 5 gold, the next and subsequent re-specs will always remain at 10 gold from there onwards, no matter how many months I wait?

Yeah, Orbstu is right about the 10g cap:

Turalyon... yes, that means it will remain at 10g (if you only respec once a month).

So you must either stick with your talent build, or make peace with the fact that you'll pay a LOT for respeccing.

Not that having to pay 10g should be any problem at all when you finally are at the point of respeccing monthly...

The respec cost is not a big deal, but I object to having to pay for Aimed shot2,3,etc again and again every time I respec :(

Why? Aimed Shot is a talent spell. The upper levels of it cost nothing next to the respec cost.

Not to hijack, but on the subject of respeccing - exactly how do you "respec" - unlearn talents? Is this limited to just talents or is it everything (profession, spells, pet training)? The above link only stated the cost.....

Talents mostly, also applies to certain spells, which are tied into talents though. So rank 1 is a talent, you've learned ranks 2 through 4, you respec and you need to learn ranks 2 through 4 once more. For the rest, you can't unlearn spells afaik.

Respeccing pet training is also possible, see the pet trainer. (Cost is slightly different there, I might add)

Profession? Unlearn it, once you do, you lose everything, so say you were an engineer, you unlearn it. Later decide to become an engineer again? All those previous recipes you had, including that rare from that drop?? Still gone. You'll need to start from scratch again.

Ok, figured that out with my pet, but I think it let me go straight to the highest level i.e. great stamina 5 without having to train 1-4 ?
What I would like to do is unlearn some "talents". I started out picking one in each area (marksman/survival/beast) but after reading through here realize it's better (at least Ithink so) to focus on one area.
So how do I unlearn all my survival talents or any of my talents for that matter.

Go to the Hunter trainer, he should have an option to undo your talent point selection and mind you, you get to reselect all your talent points again, not just a few of them. See bit about talent related spells for more on consequences on that decision.
