View Full Version : PvE not safe ?

Yesterday i was questing on my PvE-Realm, always with disabled PvP-Option. Suddenly a 3 hordes rushes in, "destroy" my quest (by killing the end boss) and then they rush against me. With 3:1 on the same level i don't have any chance and get killed.
Is this normal ? Must i look in future always for a "clean" area ? Until yesterday im always ignore the other side during quests, if i like to fight im heading for a battleground. Or, in other words what's then the reason fpr a PvE-Realm ????

Still confused...

We need more information. Where were you when this happened? What quest were you working on? Were you in a group? Details please.

I was soloing in Ashenvale, near Forest Song with my Lvl31 Warrior. The Quest was a follow up, after finding a missed centaur, i had to kill Garthak, a Satyr.

The Hordies are real players, no Enviroment. And because i had to heal myself, im absolutely sure i didn't bother them in any way. I know my limits

It's a dirty trick (or a clever one depending on how you look at it) but they may have been flagged and run under an AOE spell you had cast, hence forcing you to flag.

Sorry, but i don't understand u / the trick. I cast nothing, i was on a cooldown, waiting to regenerate and prepare for the next attack.
(But i wrote their names on my sword, i'll get then one by one)

dun need to....issue a ticket to GM and complain...this is PVE...not PVP.

They must have use some dirty ways to trick u. Complain against them and let them be banned a few days. In that way, they will stop disturb ppl.

If they really want to pvp...why join a PVE server?

We've had a couple of these sorts of posts lately- the last guy was mounted, and got killed by members of the opposite faction- PvP enabled without leaving his mount. Maybe there's some new exploit abroad..

Not a big deed killing someone who isn't prepared, much more stupid then genking...

This also happened to my wife's alliance toon when she was in Ashenvale. A real player character was grouped with 3 mobs. The horde player had their own little orc raiding group. But I don't know if this person just happened to be there at the right time to raid or if it was related to a horde quest. Their target was what I believe is called the Silverwing Outpost. She was too close to the group and they aggroed on her. By attacking them her PvP became enabled. I think this may have been what you had encountered.

I was in STV attacking a tiger and after /spit etc, 2 undead rogues attack and corpse camp me... my pvp was disabled.

I sent a general message out and other players had the same issue... I swear sometimes this game makes me lose faith in humanity.

I will complain tonight.

ps--- i dont really understand why they built something as offensive as /spit into a game?

I am with you there, my poor little shammy was covered in cow spit yesterday for reasons that escape me- really daring on a PvE server.

Ah well, revenge is a dish best served cold, ran into the cow in gadgetzan. I gambled that a spit spammer might not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, and PvP enabled myself. Dead cow in seconds, courtesy of the guards. He tried again, drawing me away from the city, until we was a fair distance away from the exit on the Shimmering Flats side. He clearly didn't see the little goblin guards hidden behind the structures there when he cast Hunter's Mark.

Enjoy 20% equipment damage, my bovine compadre. He didn't bother a third time, just collected his corpse and hearthed like his tail was on fire. I didn't need to lift a finger. Passive resistance seems to be awfully effective sometimes.

Yes, this describes nearly what has happened to me.
So does anyone knows the reason or even better a solution for that ? It looks like that anyone can aggro u and u will be forced to strike back due to the automatic enabled PvP and if things run bad u will end in a bad situation (look at Dominatrixxs post).
But this is a "classical" PvP feature, it makes no sense in a PvE enviroment.:ponder:

Was anybody else around besides the ones that attacked you? Maybe somebody who was flagged PvP buffed/healed you, flagging you PvP also?
I know if somebody heals a person who's PvP, the healer becomes PvP also, not sure about the other way around thou. Happened to me ( My pally rezed someone that was flagged so I became PvP, died 2 times because of it, but got a laugh out of it).

As for AoE's flagging you , im certain that doesnt happen.
I tried to hit an alliance group who was doing Alexi Barov with my mage, leading off with Frost nova (didnt flag me Grr) so the nuke didnt land.
I had to fireblast one and burn cold snap to get the nova in.
they still all died but I had to single target nuke (or i suppose type /PvP) to flag , not AoE.

as for the group , after I hit them the once I went on about my business , think they took Barov shortly thereafter :)

I had a similar thing happen at Deadmines. I ran over from Duskwood to join a group, and found a lvl ?? ganking anyone who showed up with their pvp flag on (its a pvp server, but westfall is ally territory). I saw him, and ran away until my flag expired. As we were going into Deadmines, he followed us, and hit me with some kind of stun or something...I'm not familiar with all the debuff symbols, but I think it was a stun. All of a sudden I'm flagged PvP. WTF?? No one in my group was flagged at that point, and I have no idea how I got flagged. Very confusing.

Nope, there wasn't anyone around me. It was a solo quest and im absolutely sure, i had no PVP flag on.
The enemy constellation consists of a shaman, a druid and a priest. So maybe a combination of their abilities can make aggro on u, so that the flag will switch.
Tonite i will hunt them, revenge will be mine...

Hear hear. Rude gestures, ogre mother, laughing... fine. Spitting is really really unpleasant imo. There was a BE Pally 9 levels lower than me with PvP enabled in Booty Bay /spitting on me. I'm guessing to get me to swing for him and get pounded on by the guards.

Maybe the Alliance=Carebear thing is right. I ran past a lvl 19 Tauren Druid with PvP flagged and just /smiled at him as he hearthed as quickly as he could back. Ganking someone almost 20 levels lower than me has no appeal... not sure I'd have got the same courtesy back

I agree. I have been spit on by horde numerous times in Booty Bay. I really don't understand that. Of course, there are any number of things that people do in RL that I don't understand either...:ponder:

from what i can understand off the offical forums is that theres some kind of bug that is enabling non flagged people to be engaged in pvp, not sure if that is the case in this instance.

sometimes all it takes is a wrong click on someone and you become flagged without realising.

as for the /spit emote, doesnt really bother me, my taurens had a spit bath from alliance on a few occasions, this coming from a rp server to, nothing to be concerned about, just laugh it off.

While spitting is totally disgusting, I think I still prefer it to being canabilized by an undead  When I tell a horde to 'eat me', I don't mean literally!!

I was a lvl 14ish in loch mordan a while back and i got hit by a ?? blood elf. No idea how it happened. I didn't have any AOE at the time, i might have hit a renew seeing as i had just accidentally fallen off a cliff, but somehow i got flagged and oneshotted.
i'm a lvl 41 one, and i still have no idea how it happened.

Get used too it.. a lot of stuff blizzard implements makes slim to no sense. But trust me, once you finally kill a member of the opposing faction 3 levels higher then you that has been corpse camping you non stop and ganking, you'l thank blizzard for the /spit emote trust me :)

We had a bad day at uldaman yesterday - a silly rogue in our group decides to attack a level ?? undead rogue with predictable results.

So, I turned up and didn't realise what had happened and ressed him... ganked... the pvp flag spread to the whole group until we were all ganked a number of times... got really boring.

My wife was really upset, but then i explained that since we were helping the guy (by healing, res etc), who attacked the undead without cause, we got flagged and the undead guy was actually obligated to teach us a lesson about (a) ganking ?? players and (b) assisting silly rogues who insist on ganking ?? players. Then she laughed.

But we eventually reformed the group, without the silly rogue.

"Silly" is a nice way of putting it... sometimes you have to forsake your instinct to protect a team member.

BTW, weirdly enough a lvl 2 Orc was in elwynn last night with pvp off... he helped my new alt kill a wolf. it was surreal until someone killed him... I felt a bit bad.
