Prospecting Guide

I am starting to near the 300 mark but the items I need to further Jewelcrafting are either insanely priced or not available at the AH.

Has anyone seen a guide showing which gems come out of prospecting certain ores?

Allakazham and Thottbot werent as useful as I hoped in answering this.

You prospect 5 ore and get dust and between 0 and 3 gems. The gems are the type which can come from the vein.

You need the an equal level of jewel crafting to prospect ore than you needed mining level to mine it.

Head over to wowhead and search for the different types of ore. It has a prospecting tab which shows you the percentages of each type of gem you'll get.

You need 275 Jewel crafting to prospect fel iron ore...

Fel iron ore will give you mostly green gems with a slight chance for blue... adamantite ore will give you a better, but still slight chance for blues.
