At first I thought that it was the winterspring sabre, but those are supposed to be striped, aren't they?

I'd say your looking at some sort of disguise.

That is most intriguing. However, Ameshne is the target, not the person depicted. The character depicted is CoolPerson (http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Malygos&n=Coolperson), a Night Elf rogue. Their character profile in the armory says they are riding a "FrostSaber", but that doesn't help much - all of them are FrostSabers The WinterSpring one does indeed look striped, but maybe they come in different flavours too?

Alright, I can't link my source (as I found it on a person attempting to sell their account...haha) but...way back when....there were no "armored" mounts (i.e. epic mounts). They still requied level 60 to have, but instead of them looking like the normal mounts with armor, they looked like the level 40 mounts, in lots of different colors.

For example, there was a pure-white horse for the human mount, a pure white kodo mount for taurens, and apparently, a pure white tiger mount for the elves.

Couldn't figure out too much more info...but it appears this guys eemingly kept his instead of trading them in for the "cooler" looking armored epic mounts.

I can tell you as much as that it'll have to be a 60% mount, or some fancy drop/quest-/factionreward - no jewels at it's shoulders.

What server did u say this was from?

Well, thats what I was under the impression of as well...but it seems (although I can't confirm it anywhere...) that at some point in time, epic mounts were not armoured and looked identical to the 40 mounts. The only difference was the color of them.

Level 60 mounts purchased at vendors now have a whole new look. Faster undead mounts already have a different look and so have not changed. The new mounts can be seen standing near the mount vendors. If you have one of the old fast mounts, you can exchange it for one with a new look at the mount vendor.

Alright, so we know it's an Epic mount because of the +100% speed boost on his Armoury page. (And yes, it has to be that Coolperson because of who he was targeting and what their guild name was)

That makes me think Stigg's explanation of the earlier, unarmoured epic mounts is the most likely one. Maybe a Google-cache search of the ... wait - wouldn't that type of information be in the patch notes?

Blizz should make it so you really CAN armor your mounts and pets, to reduce the stun/dismount effect...

...but that's a story for another thread.

If you go to the mountsellerguys you see they have an option to switch in your old pre-1.4 mounts to the new and improved armored ones.

You can still see the black old 'epic' tigers in game - the hunters in Darnassus ride 'em.

Totally agree, they look like He-man's epic mount "Battlecat" more than a little. You can still get an epic kitty without armor though- the Winterspring frost saber, which is a striped purple/white nekkid giant kitty. Looks awesome, unreasonable rep grind to get it though..
