I am a Warlock and I have been learning tayloring in the mage quarter. I got to level 75 and now I am not improving. I am still making items that should level me up (the orange ones) yet my level is bar stuck at 75. Whats up? Do I have to upgrade my level somehow?

there's probably a book or you need to go to the trainer to get the next level. see the trainer first.

Yes, professions have different levels of mastery to them. When you first learn a talent, you're an Apprentice, I believe, and can gain up to 75 skill points before you can learn nothing new. You need to talk to your profession trainer to get to the next mastery level. This will give you another block of 75 skill points (so you can then skill up to 150). There are 3 more mastery levels (up to 225, 300, and if you have Burning Crusade, 375).

You can typically learn the new mastery level when you're about 25 points below your maximum skill. So you could have learned the next level when you have 50 skill points in Tailoring. You'll be able to go up to the third mastery level at 125, and so on.

Talk to the person who trained you, you will have one of two things happen. Read the opening text when you first click on them. If they are not skilled enough to teach you anything more, they will tell you who you should go see. Otherwise, you can click the teach me more button and you should see an option to learn the next mastery level.

Seeing as you're in Stormwind already, Tailoring is easy. You learn the first three levels of mastery right there in the Tailoring shop in the Mage Quarter. From there, you'll have to go to Theramore and talk to the master tailor there to get up to 300 skill.

The only profession I know of that uses books is First Aid, though it's possible the other secondary professions of cooking and fishing do as well. I haven't skilled up in either of those, so have no idea.

Also, remember to visit your trainer every 5 or 10 points of skill, they will often have a new pattern for you to learn.

Theramore?

Does this hold same for my other skills? Sword, wand, staves? In those cases go see the wepons trainer? Right now I am in Stormind. Can Moo Ping teach me higher levels or should I find a new guy?

Where is Theramore?

My apprentace trainer has more things (in orange) to learn but I am full at 75. Im looking for Theramore now.

Weapon skill maximums scale with your level. In other words, every time you ding, you can learn another 5 points in all your trained weapons.

The multiple levels of skill is something that only pertains to professions.

And read the post better. Theramoore is for the last level of training. Often the higher skill trainers won't even talk to you until you've reached enough skill to compete in their bracket. In Stormwind should be another trainer - right next to the other one - that can take you above apprentice. If you talk to your apprentice, they will tell you where to go next.

And if I just read that right, you're not talking to the apprentice trainer at all, because they would have run out of things to give you. So figure out what you're doing and write back.

EDIT - Might want to tell us what level you are too... if you're grinding this out at an early level, you might not be able to train up yet.

I guess thats the problem. I dont know what I am doing, thats why I am asking. This is my first character, profession and my first time leveling up wepons. I am sorry I didnt read the post correctly though.

EDIT: Ok, he wasnt the guy next to where I learned. He was in a different shop in the same quarter. And you wepons level automaticly right? I am at 99 right now. The will go to the next level at 100?

You gain weapon skill with use - swing a sword, learn how to swing a sword better. The maximum will increase when you level. Right now, that's probably at 100 maximum... so fighting and using whatever that is can get you one more point. Then when you level, you can gain another five through use.

The total upshot of how weapons works is that it's perfectly possible to have 200/200, in say, wands (as a warlock that should fit) around level 40ish, and yet having used a wand all that time, your dagger skill is a pathetic 15/200. So trying to stab someone your level with a dagger at that point will miss and deflect a lot.

This isn't really something to worry about - my warrior has maybe two weapon skills fully trained, and that's usually enough. Just to keep in mind when you switch to something you haven't used, you may want to find a way to skill up quick.

On a side note, you can edit your own posts within one hour after posting them - there is no need for back-to-back posting like that, and it is in fact strongly frowned upon here. Just thought I'd mention this. I took the liberty of merging some posts for you.

To edit a post, click the tool icon in the bottom right corner of your own posts.

On another side note, the Weaponmasters each teach you something different. You have to go to the other Alliance cities to learn other weapons. If you want to learn 1-Handed Axes for example (although Locks can't) you have to go see the Ironforge weaponmaster to pick it up.
