I see lots of greens, now starting to see some blue. The main difference I notice is the price, blues tend to be 3G+

When I examine difference I can get better armour cover with a green BOE than a blue, what is the difference between green and blue?

blue items usually should have better stats. whether they give more armor depends on whether they're cloth, leather, mail or plate. a BOE green might be better, but mostly only when it's of much higher lvl.

This isn't always the case. But in pretty much all cases a blue item will be better than a green item of the same type and level. A lot of the time a blue item simply offers more bonuses than a green. Most low-level greens only offer bonuses to two stats, blues will often offer three. This may not matter as much for some classes, such as Rogues or Warriors, who mainly rely on just two stats in the first place. A lot of the time, though, those bonuses are better on a blue than a green.

Blue items are a lot rarer than green items, hence there is a greater demand for a blue item, and thus the markup. At higher levels, you'll start seeing the odd purple epic item. They are even rarer, and are priced up another factor, much as blues are over greens. Personally, I would only consider them if I was extremely, extremely rich, and even then I would have to think about it. You can get a lot of comparable stuff in instances, though the randomness of the drops could mean a few runs before you get what you're after.

I've found after playing 8 toons, 3 to level 60 and 5 up to level 40, that you should only purchase "Blues" if the one of following two conditions are met:

1. if you plan on staying at a certain level for an extended period of time, for example if you plan on doing PVP in the battlegrounds for a while before you level that character again.

or

2. the blue item is being offered for a cheap price.

I have found that by spending just an average amount of time and effort (average is a loose term when talking WoW, lol) , most people can level a character pretty fast. Most Blue items are about 5 - 7 levels more advanced then greens of the same level. For example a level 20 Blue would be about the same as a level 26 or so green. So, I see no reason to spend a lot of money on a blue item, when it's just going to be replaced by a green item in a few levels. Having a couple extra points in stats really isn't going to make anybody level that much faster. There good to have, no doubt, but not worth the price if your going to level. As said above, if you want blues, go into an instance. You're bound to get a drop or two.

Also, i see no reason the spend a lot of time running the same instance to get a character all decked out in blues at the low and mid levels. If you spent that time questing and leveling, you'd be 15 levels higher, and wearing better green items. Unless of course you want to Twink, but thats a whole different topic and covered in #1 above.
