Installed WOW a week ago and it was working fine. Since then I have changed my monitor and replaced with a HDTV so can play on big screen.

Had to change my desktop resolution as the TV didn't suppor the old resolution. Old res was 1360x768, the new one is 1920x1080. It worked ok for a few days at the higher res but now when I start WOW, I get the window, click "Play", the screen goes black, I can hear the sound kick in and then it just returns back to the desktop. The WOW window is still in the taskbar and clicking on it attempts to reopen the window but it just does the same thing.

Any ideas how to solve this?

What is your graphics card like? Older cards or weak modern cards don't stand a hope of getting those kind of resolutions in a game. Also, modern drivers are necessary for HD Television viewing. Even some modern cards don't have the ability to display properly on a HDTV, as it plays fine on a normal screen it's next to certain it's the graphics card causing grief.

As I made clear in the first post it worked fine for a few days at 1920x1080 with all detail on high. So no it is not the graphics card.

Setup:

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66ghz (overclocked to over 3ghz)
Nvidia 8800 GTX 768Mb Ram
2Gb Memory
etc
etc

It was playing like a dream at 1920x1080 for a few days but since the latest patch which I installed yesterday it hasn't been working.

In fact yes that reminds me, it worked fine until the new patch.

Not to worry, I have sorted it. I deleted the config.wtf and now it loads up and plays just perfectly in 1920x1080.

Just an FYI, just because it works for a couple of days before spluttering into difficulty does in no way rule out graphic problems off the bat. I've seen it happen frequently on this forum. It didn't happen in this situation, but in future don't think "Well it worked a couple of times, therefore Hardward-peice-of-your-choice must be completely A-ok".

It is good to hear you solved the problem, and it turned out to be nothing major.
