You would think that with all there is to do in this game most people would be too busy to spend their time scamming "gold"...
Character tells me he can add +5 str to my bracers for 70s. Ok, here you go. After he's done they're not +5, they're +1. I tell him this. No he says, it adds the two together and that makes them +5.... Back and forth with , "yeah, my bad" and "go piss yourself". Like I said, you would think that there's enough to do earn gold without having to scam it out of people.
So anyone correct me if I'm wrong: when you have an item enchanted you put it in the "not to be traded" box. Don't click "trade" until AFTER it's enchanted and you make sure you get what you're supposed to get. I don't know maybe there are some enchanters out there who don't know what they're doing ....... lame if you ask me.

if you run your mouse over your item before it trades i believe it says what will be added, and it dosnt take affect until after you click trade

Even though I am an enchanter my ignore list is full of enchanters... spamming your wares every 5 seconds from a trade macro is really, really annoying

As an enchanter, it goes like this...

1. open trade window
2. customer puts item into 'will not be traded' box
3. open up enchant skills window and select enchant
4. click enchant in enchant skills window, then click the item in the trade box
5. hit 'trade'

At this point, the customer has not hit trade - they can see what will be enchanted to their item

If the enchant is correct, put your money in the trade window and hit trade and the enchant will occur.

As to silly things like 'add two together'.... well, not really.

If you get an 'enchant weapon - superior striking' and the description says 'Permanently enchant a Melee Weapon to do 5 additional points of damage."

Then when the enchant is done you should see, in green, on the item, 'weapon damage +5'

On the flipside, I also get some gooses. One guy followed me around for half an hour yelling at me because the enchant he wanted and got did not make his weapon glow... sigh... I ended up giving him half back just to shut him up - and i'd done it in the first place for just under the cost of the materials.

Piece of advice: Ask the enchanter to link the enchant he's gonna give you.

AFAIK only the name of the enchant will be shown, which is rather meaningless to those not initiated in the arts ([Enchant Bracer - Agility] gives.. is it 3 or 5? [Enchant Weapon - Agility] gives 15).

Oh and for gods sake, do NOT accept getting mats for someone below lvl 35 to enchant your weapon with crusader... I had it in lvl 58 which was quite soon, below lvl 35 those levels of enchant are simply unavailable.

I don't believe it I bought an enchant I don't have and the guy tried to give me the wrong enchant! Sigh... was probably an honest mistake in this case but made me think of this thread

As for Crusader - Yay! - dropped last night after about my 50th spellbinder so it's going on my shammies flurry axes :-)

Saw a new one last night:
Character was "looking to buy rum(something) 5g!" Why would anyone want to pay that for rum, it's not used for anything other than a quest maybe?? I check the AH and guess what, same guy selling rum for 1g. Obviously he was trying to trick someone into buying his rum out of the AH, hope no one got taken on this.

Here's another one, someone is sending "wrapping paper" with 200g COD to random people. I haven't really paid close attention to CODs, does it auto pay when you open it, or wait and prompt with "ok"?

Gift wrapped presents - COD have been stopped by Blizzard.

When you open a COD letter, you get a screen pop up confirming that it will cost you x before you proceed. Unless you are expecting a COD, don't click yes.

Volatile Rum only drops from Pirates and is used for to make Gobin Rocket Fuel.

That fuel is a component in:
Ectoplasmic Distiller
Dirge's Kickin' Chimaerok Chops
Firework Cluster Launcher
Mithril Mechanical Dragonling
Goblin Rocket Helmet
Goblin Dragon Gun
The Big One
Firework Launcher
Goblin Rocket Boots

Oh dear. At least most scammers are bright enough to use different toons for posting the auction and the WTB messages  <-- I know it's called evil but it looks like forehead slapping.

Blizzard doesn't police D2 anywhere close to how they police WoW. The policing on WoW is insanely better then D2 ever was. Reason for that comes from the fact that people are paying to play WoW constantly, so they need to do something to keep it up.

In regards to enchanting, as i recall when it is in the do not trade window and you however your mouse over it, some enchants do not have the specifics, if i recall, the +40 spellpower, when you however your mouse over it , it just says 'adds spell power' or something like that, i dont remember exaclty but something blizz may want to look over.

Also, in reference to the CODs, remember, while blizz has stopped gift wrapped packages, scammers are still sending out Letters from the Argent Dawn CODs..i got one the other day from the 'argent dawn' saying my service to the cause is greatly appreciated and within the letters i will find my next assignment or something, but it had a cod of 100g :P

The best way to defend yourself against COD scams is if you don't recognize the name, don't take it.

I wouldn't call it scamming, but it did make me some money. I just gift wrapped linen cloth, and sent it to about 100 people with a COD of 1G. I also gift wrapped one with an epic I just found, which was worth under 100g. And sent with it a message which said there was an epic in one of the gifts.

30 People accepted it, the epic was still mine though. Well, I made 30G, but it was fair. ^^

1g for a single linen cloth or at least a full stack?

Justinledwards

Hmmm well I would never have accepted as who's to say you didn't forget to put the epic in one of those mails?
