Ok after seeing how many people said that tailoring was such a good match to enchanting (already 340 had crusader and all that) I decided to drop engineering (which i only leveled to get jumper cables) and give tailoring a go. Coupled with enchanting (DE all my crafted greens while leveling) the entire 0-300 took me about 60g to level. Sweet!! But I have a few questions for the experts out there

I picked up a mooncloth transmute recip for free ages ago so I learned it but I need to use a moonwell. Where the heck is this wonderful... erhm well... well. And also would doing this transmute now at 70 still be worth it funds wise, is there gear (bags or the like) that are in demand that us this? Basicaly if I make a mooncloth will I turn a profit?

What is the best route to go for specialization 300-375? I'm not going to be wearing my gear = hunter but i'm sure some specs have better profit ratios and better crafted BOE's to sell.

Let the newbsause tailor in on your secrets!!

I would check out your server to see what's more in demand. At the moment on my server shadowcloth is going for about 90g per cloth while primal mooncloth is going for 30-40g per.

I attribute this to a lot of locks and mages who want to make their epic tailoring set but not wanting to wait 32 days for instance to make the vest. Basically Shadowcloth will give you two classes (three if you count shadowpriests) to sell to theorhetically where as mooncloth only gives you priests. A lot of people are down on spellfire becuase of the lack of stamina.

The main advantage of mooncloth specialty appears to be the 20 slot bags. But I know I would never pay 4-500g for a 20 slots when I can get 5 18 slots for less than that. On the other hand shadowcloth may reach a saturation point once a lot of people have their armor made.

Jeezus everything I typed got wiped out

Ok quickly

I think you are talking about mooncloth made from felcloth. Not too much use there anymore after TBC. Moonwell is in ashenvale.

I think you are thinking of Primal mooncloth and not regular mooncloth. Moonwell for that is in cenarion thing in zangarmarsh

Not sure but moonwells may be able to make both, never tried.

As far as choosing a specialty. It wont matter. The only difference is that you can make double your specialty every 4 days(cooldown) instead of 1 but you are still able to use all 3 cooldowns for spellcloth and shadowcloth as well. So if you choose mooncloth you can make 2 primal mooncloths instead of 1 every 4 days.

Tailoring/enchanting

Its great to have an ecnhanter to DE green items to turn into arcane dust and planars

Its great to have an enchanter DE the BOE's you will be making while leveling tailoring instead of vendoring the blues.

Its great to have a tailor to use the arcane dust to make bags out of for cash

its great to have a tailor to turn all those usless stacks of netherewave into bolts and bags instead of turning them into bandages and selling.

Oh and there is a moonwell at the CE outpost in Zangamar Marsh. That's where I go now. But other locations I've used are in Ashenvale and Silithus.

Oatmeal is spot on with a lot of this.

Moonwell in stormwind alliance side, easiest one to get to, not far from the mage port in.

Don't waste your time on old school mooncloth, only make the primal stuff.

I think when all is said and done that spellcloth will be the most profitable cloth...but I could be very wrong.

at 300, i made netherweave bolts until grey, then i made imbued until 340.. then I started making imbued bags to 350.. bought the bracers of havok pattern and started pumping them out at a profit. When I hit 370 it was like a brick wall, i had to make a bunch of imbued chest pieces and de them to hit 375.

I had 371 from my primal belt, so the last 4 points weren't that bad. I have the spellstrike hood and pants pattern as well as a bunch of blues and 1 more epic.

Tailoring, i love it.

yeah the last 10 points or so are an absolute pain to get. I got two points from my shadoweave belt and boots. Then it was imbued netherweave chests. And when you miss a point (they are yellow) it makes you curse because of the mats that go into em. (108 netherweave and 12 arcane dust for each one)

The really bad thing about it is there are other tailors doing the same thing (plus lvl 70 instance drops are better for the most part) so they had no value on the AH (too much supply, not enough demand). Plus Blizz got the bright idea to make them unique which I don't get since you can't wear two chest pieces.

Curious RG... what's the angle you're seeing on spell cloth? All the mages I know are torn on it due to lack of stamina on spellfire set... and the destruction locks won't touch it.

There's still something of a market for Mooncloth Bags, at least on my server. The newer bags are BoE, so once you start using them, they're yours forever. Mooncloth Bags, however, you can use then pass on to alts or sell on the auction house. I've made a couple of them post-BC, and they're down to about half the price they were before, at around 17-18 gold. So if you have a lot of Felcloth, I don't see the harm in making yourself a couple of bags at least, but at the same time, you shouldn't go out of your way to farm tons and tons of Felcloth just to make Mooncloth.

As to Moonwells, it depends on what Faction you are, I'm guessing Horde from you name. Unfortunately I only really know Alliance (who have it dead easy with Moonwells in Darnassus and Stormwind, nevermind the ones in the Night Elf starting areas). I know there's at least one Moonwell accessible to Horde in Ashenvale, and I'm sure there's a couple of others scattered about.

If you're in Outland, it's easier to use the one at the Cenarion Refuge. I believe any Moonwell will serve, though, so you could make your specialty cloth at an Azeroth Moonwell just as easily. And at least with Primal Mooncloth, you get a nice little hour long buff too after you make it.

As a side-note for Alliance people, there is also a Moonwell in Silvernar (sp?) in the Blade's Edge Mountains.

Unique? I've been buying imbued netherweave chest (the blue 70) ones five at a time and had them all in my bags at the same time.

Who said anything about unique? Maybe i am blind!

The pain in the butt for me right now is farming that damn nertherweb spider silk. The spots are always camped and the drop rate is painful.

I'm actually concerned about the mooncloth purple pieces due to the lack of stamina ... as stamina seems to be playing a very important role in end game places. I am thinking maybe a combo of these pieces with the arena set would give a good balance of +healing and survivability. Any thoughts?

When I was making them it said unique... I tried making 8 at once for my last skill ups and I kept getting the "this item is unique message". And had to mail them off to my AH/DE alt one at a time before I made a nother one.

Remember there are two imbued netherweave chestpieces: The robe (unique) and the tunic (not unique). No difference in skill req or mats as far as I can remember, so making the tunics took my skill to 375 eventually.

And btw, the spellfire set is sweet, no matter what people say about the stamina. Using it for my arc/fire mage (43/18) and currently burning mobs to cinders with +948 dmg unbuffed, so I don't see the need to upgrade anytime soon. Just put some decent gems in the numerous sockets to make up for the lack of stamina and you're set to go.
