Hi all

At the moment I am a lvl 53 mage.

I have herbalsim 300 and Skinning 300. Up until now that has been great casue u always have things to sell on ah and make some money.

I want to keep herbalism beacause i want to take up Alchemy some where along the line.

The question i have is when should i drop skinning and take up alchemy. I like skinning cause of the money it makes but at some point , some of the potions i can make i can sell for a bundle from what i see of the prices on the AH and also there are quite a few that i could use myself right now :)

Should i do this at lvl 60? or 70? Does skinning make u as much money in outland as alchemy would?

When i say alchemy can make money i mean two things. Sell potions or u save money cause u can make the potions your self and not have to buy them.

You see i now get rugged leather from mobs: I can sell a stack of 20 for around 3-5g. I can sell blindweed for around 15g per stack depending on the time of week. In swamp of sorrows i can harvest 3 stacks of 20 blindweed in under 1 hour.

Dreamfoil sells for around 30g and fadeleaf for around 20g on my server.

So i dont get that much hmoney for the skins anymore but the potions i want to buy range from around 8g - 30g for a stack of 5.

Mana potions and buff potions (+spell dmg etc) look nice but some are 2 expensive to just buy all the time.

Keep skinning until 70 or go for alchemy when i hit 60? Dont wanna power level alchemy before that, I think cause most of my cash must go to my epic lvl 60 mount (still need 300g)

Gathering professions will always net you money, period.

Especially compared to professions like Alchemy. Why not stay herbalism and have someone in your guild make pots for you for free?
