I'm having trouble getting any start in cooking. I am an apprentice, have a recipe for bread of some kind, but no flint, and I'm not sure how to use a cooking fire I come upon.
So: Can someone provide "dumbed down" instructions for someone who's been playing the game for less than a week? How do I cook?
Thanks!

Wow - you totally missed the profession forum! :azn:
I've reported it and asked them to move it for you - you'll get a response in there. I have no idea.

Oh, thanks. I'm a hunter, so I thought this was the appropriate forum.

There's stoves orcooking fire's in a lot of places that you can use. Often there's one close to a cooking trainer.

As a hunter, take up fishing as well...fish, cook fish, feed fish to pet.

I have almost maxed out my cooking on my main and I don't own a flint or carry wood. I just use the cooking fires or stoves that you inevitably come across.
There aren't many in SW but you can find some in the Dwarves Quarter.
You just stand near the fire, open up your cooking page and and click on the approriate recipe and the button below (forget what it is called but it is intuitively named) and provided you have all the ingredients in you bags, voila you are cooking!

Using a cooking fire is very simple: just stand close enough to one. Then press your cooking button (the one with the roasted chicken), select your recipe (make sure you have the necessary materials) and click the "create" button.

I have the simple wood and the Flint/Tinder in my bags so I can cook as I go.
I see the wood has numbered use, but how long does the Flint/Tinder last - how many uses do you get from it ?? :ponder:

Flint and Tinder is like any other "tool" like hammers, picks, and kits. You get infinite use out of it, you simply have to have it on you.

I'm a big cooking and fishing nut actually. As a hunter though you'll get even more use out of it as you get cat and other pets.
I tend to save space on the flint and tinder and just use available fires. Basically and fire source that you can hover your mouse over and get a tool tip on you can use roundabouts. Everything from a cozy fire in a fire place to the dwarven braziers you see dotted throughout Ironforge. Hell sometimes I wipe out a mob camp just to use their fire if I really need to. : )
As was said, just stand close enough to it without taking damage.
Just note, forges are not cooking fires. Guess most don't like the taste of molten slag on their sagefish delight.
