Depends on your server...
IMO, leave the ore as ore, and convert to bars only when needed.

Don't turn the ore into hardened bars or anything else. Just stick a mining bag or two in the bank and stash it in there. This gives you more flexibility, depending on what's needed.

Great idea
2 mining bags, one for fel iron + eternium, the other for adamantite + khorium. Also keep a gem bag as well if you have enough space
Khorium is the biggest money maker but has come down a bit since release. Fel iron and adamantite ore still make a tidy profit considering they're so easy to get hold of.

Hellfire for fel iron of course...I fly along the edges of nagrand to pick up tons of adamantite and a few khorium.
As far as selling it seems that most are too lazy to smelt their own bars on my server...but if I break down and sell in stacks of 5 they usually sell pretty well...just kinda tedious when you have 30+ 20 stacks.

I see heaps of fel iron and adamantite in Shadowmoon seeing as though there are mountains all over the place. That's my favourite place for everything but Khorium now, Nagrand still takes it for Khorium. Behind the portal is too over farmed now to be worth the effort just to get some fel iron.

I sell everything as ore, and after the initial TBC craze (which made me a couple K gold in a week of ore), prices have stabilized at, more or less:
8-9g buyout for a stack of fel iron ore
14-16g buyout for a stack of adamantite ore
4g buyout per one piece of eternium ore
3g buyout per one piece of khorium ore
The green gems are 1g50s-2g at most. Blue gems are, basically:
Dawnstone - around 40g
Nightseye - around 50g
Star of Elune - around 50g
Skyfire Diamond - around 100g
Earthstorm Diamond - around 80g
The blue ones sell cheaper when already polished into jewels, I suppose this is the same as on other realms. Jewelcrafters need to level. :D

Just keep mining mithril in Hinterlands and you'll get there. Can't remember when Thorium is available but start mining it asap.

at 245 the small thorium veins are now open for you to mine. also at lvl 230 truesilver and dark iron ore became available for you as well. Your best bet would be searing gorge or burning steppes to get those truesilver/dark iron veins as well as a few thorium veins. Also Un'Goro Crater and Silithus have a decent amount of small thorium/truesilver/mithril veins for you to level on as well. As soon as you get to 275 you can start mining those nice fat juicy thorium veins you see in those zones as well.

There's no reason to not smelt the uncommon (green) ores. You can not prospect these. This means leave fel iron and adamantite as ore and smelt eternium and khorium.
Same goes with the lower stuff... smelt up silver, gold, trusilver, and dark iron (if you like lava jumping). It isn't as needed though... the older stuff is a 1 to 1 ore to bar translation. The new stuff is a 2 to 1.
As for where to mine. I leveled the mid-levels on dark iron in the searing gorge. I was the right level to be questing there. There's several spawns inside the slag pit as well as around the area. BRD has many spawns too.
There are small thorium veins all around unguro and WPL as well.
Once you hit the outlands, you'll be fine... Fel Iron is still green at 375, so you'll get your 75 points in about 80 mines. I hit the outlands with 300 mining, but I suspect fel iron needs 275 to mine. I say this because you need 275 jewel crafting to prospect it.

Not sure what it is on my server (Im skin/LW) but wouldn't be suprised if it was the same. As a general rule the 57-60 OL gear sells for less than the 40-49 bracket gear, supply and demand I suppose.

That's because everyone in outland is mining a ton of fel iron. On my server thorium is has the best price (outside of khorium) with fel iron you're just wasting your listing fees. I'm just going to bank all my fel iron until I have my jewel crafter leveled up high enough to prospect it.
