As the title suggests, Not to start a flame here but what can you say about people who label WOW players as nerds/geeks and even say that gamers don't even have a life anymore! I really can't take that kind of stuff. I try very hard to ignore them. Wish that I could just make them stop!

Im a nerd and im proud of it.
I'm a geek, and I see nothing wrong with it :)
I have a life too. I've got a wife, I'm going through school still, and I'll finally be getting a job this summer, and we're planning to start trying for a baby come fall.
I'd call that a life.

lol i play WoW and ive played video games my whole life A LOT. I am a good looking person get PLENTY of girls and i have a life. Not only that to add to my "nerd" status i go to school for a programming degree. I get a lot of **** from all my friends for it but once i get more girls than all of them they shut up about it lol. I work fulltime, go to shcool, play wow, and still have time to party and hang out with friends. So it is possible to balance life and play wow. Once you dont go to work and dont go to shcool and dont hang out with ur friends at all wutsoever...and you dont talk to girls..then u can be classified as a nerd.

Nerds and geeks...meh. Y'all ain't got anything on me. I'm a dork  and have been for years. It's nothing to be ashamed of.
If you're going to pick up a hobby that has number-crunching and sci-fi/fantasy aspects, you should be prepared to be dubbed as a nerd, geek, dweeb, dork, or whatever else society can think of to label smart and/or imaginative people. It goes with the territory.

It could be an age thing, I'll be 40 this year:cry: but its more like a hobby to me.
At my age I hear (why are you still playing kids games)
But most the people I play with are over 40:thumbsup:

I'd ask them to properly describe the terms nerd, geek and dork so I could see if I fit in one of those categories.

One of the coolest Guild names I have seen was "adorkables". What can I say, I own and embrace my inner dork. If what I'm doing is fun, legal, and at times exciting to the point of causing an adreline rush, who cares what people call it? I have a name for those people, it's called jealous

Why care what they think?
Think that's bad, i'm a nerd/geek/dork in a Marketing person's skin.
Try being dynamic and personable with a head filled with all sorts of minutia!
: )
But then, I love the challenge.

I say that nobody is too old to be a gamer!

That, or so self-concious that they only feel comfortable when they are like everyone else around them and so they try to make any "oddballs" like the rest of the group. If you refuse to conform, you are "insert label here."

I define myself as a "computer geek" -- ever since the name "hacker" was corrupted into meaning negative things. If someone wants to label me as a geek or a nerd, my usual response is "yeah, so what?" -- especially after looking at the size of my paycheck compared to theirs.

The only kind of geek/dork/nerd that holds a negative conotation with me.
i make being a nerd and a geek cool again. if you're not one you're not cool.
so i guess, that makes wow players cooler than ppl who don't play wow.

This isn't a slam on all the folks here, but if you are implying that WoW players in general are "smart and/or imaginative", I'd have to disagree with you. I've run into far more people on WoW who are complete morons compared to the above description. It doesn't even scale with real life LOL.
EDIT: The only people who know I play WoW are my wife and kids. I don't have any real life friends who play it (I'm 30). I spend a lot of time at work, with my kids, and my friends, and when I have a chance I play WoW. I've just never found the need to tell anyone I play it anyway.

I'm pretty nerdy but I don't look it. Just ask Kcma or Rottentomato!
I really don't care if people label me as a nerd or geek, that usually just shows their insecurity with themselves in my opinion.
