Hey guys, I'd just like to know: what are your favorite spots to farm and make money? Also, not just for 70s, but for most levels. Thanks in advance.

I think at 20-30ish would be Duskwood, and occasional DM-runs! Really great at that lvl! I spent 3lvls below the tranquill gardens by Bloody Mary killing the skeletons, and looting the chest. Remember to take everything out of it cos it will respawn faster! SFK and RFD is also good at higher 20s for loot'n'$!
At around 30-32 try to find a good group for SM. You can easily make 1-2g/run. Then I would head to shimmering flats pick up all the quests u see, and then hand them in at once! It feels really good to see all that xp pop up! Can make 20,000xp in two hours just by quest rewards (not counting mob xp). Ohh.... and the money side: clear out ur bag, and loot everything, cos some of that stuff sells for quite a lot at vendors! Then I don't know... :) Im lvl34 now... prolly go to desolace...

that was my 2 cents...

At 32-35 I was farming the naga right behind Southshore. There's a nice little cove there where by the time you cut through the Naga in the cove those outside the cove had respawned. I was also farming Northwest of Refuge Point (same levels), mostly for the spiders (I'm a tailor and I want Spider Silks) and raptors just cuz they're there.

Whenever I go into farming mode (it's usually for xp rather than cash) I look for mobs ranging from 2 levels under me to 1 level over me (up to 3 levels over me is fine if they're not so common and 4 levels over me is fine as long as it's very rare and I have time to catch my wind after the kill) and I farm well away from a Horde (enemy) camp, preferably near my camp.

Around lvl 40 - rock elementals in Badlands, especially if you have mining also. That was one set of levels I really noticed my cash going up with nice vendor trash and AH'able elemental earth and deeprock salt

@ 70 i grind motes of water for primals. it works out about 3-4 primals an hour and on my server they are worth 20-25g a pop. they are right beside a main city, good drop rate and a fiendish warlock can ensure nobody else can grind that area.

but im not giving away my money spinner.

Best way I've found, is to farm heroics for the primal nethers, and sell the crafts. I can currently make three epic tailoring patterns, and i have one that people whisper me 3 or 4 times a day to make. If I could keep up with demand for nethers, thats a potential 800-1000g a day, simply for making a few belts as I charge 200-250g per craft. Although in reality, as I can only get one or two nethers a day maximum, it generally only works out to about 1200g a week.

I think I did 2 or 3 levels in an 8 hour session in Shimmering Flats. That place kicks butt for leveling. All "kill x mobs" quests and tons of them.

That's something I've been wondering about.
Do mining nodes show up from any altitude? In other words is the range at which they show on the minimap a 3-d or 2-d range? (actual range, or just distance over the ground)

I'm pretty sure that I've had some nodes not show from high up and only appear when I dive. Which is a pity.

No but because the epic mount flys so fast i actually fly right above the ground so they show up easier. Sometimes I fly right past them before they show on my map.

Meh. That speedy bird could take a while... early Karazhan attempts have destroyed my bank balance through pot usage. :-(

Well, yes... but my new guild expects it. We'll see.

If I give up on it and /gquit there will probably be a semi-ranting thread somewhere here ;-)

Un goro crater is a nice zone. Herbalism, skinning, and mining are very useful for this area. Rugged and thick leathers, plus the occaisonal hides. Golden sansam, sungrass, dreamfoil, and mountain silversage sell well. The repeatable quest for turning in morrow grain in Darnassus usually results in some major healing potions which always sell in the AH. Also collecting Bloodsprouts and turning those in for the repeatable quest sometimes nets you a potion or two. Killing the tar creatures sometimes gets you an herb. Collecting the crystals and going to the respective pylons to make crystal power ups will, of course, help you in your farming. If you're still doing the repeatable quests at Lights Hope Chapel then you can farm for savage fronds and core of elements in Un goro. The burning elementals also drop elemental fires.

Does Un'goro have good drop rates for greens and blues? I just got in there at 47, and I think I'm gonna grind there until 48 to get all of the quests.

ungoro has a similar drop rate of greens and blues as everywhere else, but your highest rate of them dropping is to go for the obscure areas/mobs there that most people arent killing so you have a better chance of getting good drops. ive had the gutbuster drop for me 3 times out there in different areas, and a ton of greens. id say its like any other zone...just depends what you kill and how often its been killed and when the last reset was. but for all the other items you can farm there is awesome. un'goro soil/crystals/leather/herbalism its just a cash crater :)

I'm with Kcma on this one.
I'm not using auctioneer or anything, I just log on my alt half an hour every once in a while. It's not a part of the game I enjoy, but it sure beats farming and grinding for cash.

I recently rerolled a hunter on a new server along with some friends and had to do everything from scratch. I picked up mining and herbalism and started out with some stacks of copper, wool and herbs. Moved onto golden pearls, weapons etc with start bid lower than vendor price and then.. (search for Kcma posting on this topic).

I've kinda cheated in one way tho. One of my friends transfered and can disenchant stuff for me. This will be a great help if you can get a guildie to do for you. Knowing the game well will of course help you alot as well
(knowing what items are used for this and that and so on).

I pick up any herbs/veins along the way, but I haven't had a grinding session for gold yet and I'm at 52 with about 550G. I'm semi-twinked and have gotten one "notable drop" this far that sold for 40G. At this point it's only to make sure I have my epic at 60, but I'll probably try to step it up a bit once I'm done leveling.

so ive been doing my AH thing for a week or so on the guild bank...transfered all my gold that was in the bank except for 1g, and have been devoting all my energy and time i log onto that into just AH...right now after 4 days ive been able to log on, my 1g turned into 40g or so... :) pretty happy with the results.

my 53 hunter is sitting at 180g and probably 100-150g in shards in the AH. the 100-150g in shards will probably turn around to around 200-220g or me :) cant wait for that payoff.

once i can start buying stuff with the bank alt like my shards i should be getting a few turnarounds like that :)

Azshara is one of my personal favorite places to farm. There are 3-4 rare spawns that pop up every now and then<-- good green & blue drops. in the SE area there are Blue dragons (lvl 50ish elites)<-- blue dragonscales, green & blue drops not to mention 8-15s per kill in coin. Just NE of the naga encampment there are Demons (40-50ish)<--Felcloth, Runecloth, greens, and I've gotten 3-4 alchemy formulas to drop there. Right next to the demons is an encampment of Blood Elves (50ish)<--Greens, Blues, Runecloth & coin. Not to mention the multitude of Hippogriffs that drop Iron Feathers and can skin for Thick & Rugged Leather with the ocasional Thick & Rugged Hide. On the far NE tip is an encampment of Murlocs (50ish) easy to kill and good drops, wathc for fast respawn though!

and that is my $0.02

I'm with magickhat on the ore farming. I can do a circle around the outside of hellfire in about 20m on my epic flying mount.... it yields about 40 ore if no one else if farming it.

Flying around nagrand takes more time because you have to monitor your altitude. Your tracking skills do have a limited range, so you need to be close to the ground... they also take some time to show up on your map. I use gatherer, so I know where they should be, so I pause near each node for a half second to see if a dot shows up.

If you don't have an epic mount, fly around the area near the dark portal. It's a smaller area and has the highest concentration of fel iron.

I bought my epic mount mostly through questing and through selling enchanting mats. My wife DEs all the greens I get and I sell the arcane dust for between 1.5-2g a pop. If you have extra netherweave... sells for 5ish gold a stack on my server... runecloth for 2g.

Herbs sell well too.... even better than the pots they make. The one disappointment was jewel crafting. Cut green gems sell for CRAP.... I get 2-3g for one if I'm lucky... they vendor for 1g.

Mote/primal farming as previously mentioned is a nice source of income if you can find a time the elemental plateau isn't being heavily farmed...

Oh and if you can max your fishing, you can fish up crawdads. They sell for 5-6g a pop.

49-52: Sorrow Hill in WPL. Decent money drops from the 50-52 skeletons and ghouls, some runecloth, some vendor trash and some minion scourgestones to turn into Argent Dawn tokens/rep. There are usually a ton of bots here though, so when you get to around 53, I'd start working on the 54-56 skeletons and ghouls on the outskirts of the ruins, usually no bots there as they are too stupid to navigate the terrain.

I'm now planning to do SFK, since apparently you can make around 10g per run.

i dont know how the drop rate is for greens and blues but when i went thru there with my main i only stayed for a bout one level and had the pattern for devilsaur leggings drop off a dimetradon and the hydralick armor drop off a fire elemental (both awesome blue drops) and i had several very decent greens drop as well. i got a mace off another fire elemental that sold to a vendor for over 6g...but i d/ed for mats.

Personally, it's a combination of both farming and turning "tricks" at the AH: buying and selling. During quests/farming, I tend to collect everything I can sell that’s worth selling, especially wool and silk. I deliberately store many stacks of these in the bank. Why? Well, to control the market. On my server, many arbitragers, including myself, are known to drive the price of wool cloth well into the stratosphere. I’ve seen full stacks of wool cloth listed for 2g each, which is ridiculous when you can go kill an orc or two for them. My banked wool cost me next to nothing to begin to with, and so with this in mind, I can flood the market and still make a handsome profit whilst doing the consumer a favour by driving the prices down. I’ve done this several times :)

Herbalism and alchemy have come in handy too. Some say the real money cannot be made with herbalism and alchemy until you reach the higher-end of these professions. I disagree. For example, shadow potions sell well on my server. I often make about 27g from selling 10 x 5 stacks of shadow potions. The trick is to know what’s in demand, then find/make it then sell it.

Also, I like to home in on little bargains. The other day, I came across an epic “eye of flame” being sold for 60g. Of course, I snapped it up and sold it for 100g.

I have a very happy and contented mage. All he needs now is a decent robe with serious damage power. Of course, money is no object for this guy, anymore.

SFK can make very good money...roughly every run makes you around 3.5g from coin drops, 3g for cloth drops (on my server this is a lowball), D/E mats make you anywhere from 1g-3g, and every 4 runs or so, you usually get a rare blue drop, netting you 20-150g depending on the wonderful drop you get...so out of 20 runs, 460g or so on average...so around 46g an hour or so...since 20 runs take around 25 minutes or so, and end up with a 2 minute run to nearest town, and mail everything then come back...its a pretty decent amount in that amount of time.

BEs in azshara are awesome at dropping runecloth...i get a stack every 20 minutes or so. they sell for around 5g a stack, so 15g an hour in cloth only. SFK still sounds pretty good to me in all honesty. :)

On my server I notice the Epic Warden staff being sold for 12g. Probably mistake by the seller by missing a 0 of the price. But their loss is my gain and my mount was paid for.
