I've decided that with my story/blog thing, I'm going to actually do two characters at once (since I have two accounts).

My only problem is deciding on two classes. Here's what I'm considering right now, and what I'm not:

Warlock - Warlock: Do I need to even tell you why? That's like running four characters. This could be awesome. Only downside is I'm leveling the same class twice.

Warlock - Mage: I've got a tank, a dot thrower, and then a massive damage dealer. I like the sound of it.

What I don't want to do - but I know it's common - is Priest - Mage. because I've already got a Priest at 60, and I don't want to level another one.

... i like that two Warlocks, although you'd have to be really good at microing 4 characters, lol. however, that Warlock-Mage duo could really be something, as the warlock wont have to worry about mana, you can summon a tank, the mage can CC (assuming of course you choose that path instead of the nuke trees)...

good luck with that.

How about a Pally - Warlock? I know pallys arent good at dps/heal, but they can do both and help in a way that is required by the situation!
Free for comments...I like learning!!!

I'd love to duo-play a frost mage/druid combo.

God, just imagine the possibilities, especially once the mage has a Water Elemental

All those frost novas, healing, bear tanking, AOEing etc

Just...my god, I'm going to have to do it myself and get another account.

What do you mean pallies aren't good at healing :azn: ? We are currently (arguably, I guess) the best single target healers in the game (and we are, not-arguably (according to me) the best PvP healers in the game).

But other than that, I 100% agree. A paladin's current job is to turn someone else into a god... if that someone else is a DPS character = carnage

I have had incredible success with rogue-druid. We can stealth together, she can tank when needed and heal, and I can stun a mob while she heals. Another great thing is that at higher levels, whenever I crit, I get healed automatically :) Rogue-druid can be unstoppable.

Both are nice combination. Though if I would have to pick then I'd go for warlock-mage. But if you would like same class combination you can try rogue-rogue. Good Luck!

I level'd up two warlocks at the same time to around 12 or so, just as a "proof of theory" type of thing with my dual boxing project.

Worked great. The damage is split down the middle (unless one crits) so aggro isn't a problem. But I didnt' want to level up two new warlocks, as I already have one that is almost 70. So I tried something else...

I did a warlock mage combo to around 10 (warlock on 2nd account, on same server my main warlock is on). Aggro was a huge problem. The mage just nukes too hard. You have to realize a mage is a kiting class, where the warlock is more of a tank'n'spank class (pet tanks, you spank).

I did a little Warlock / Shammy action, but just didn't like it. That and the two classes don't share a single city which holds both class trainers. That means going to Exodar for Shammy training, and IF/SW for Warlock training... lots of stupid excess traveling. (unless I somehow got them both to Shattrah city... hmm....).

After a lot of theorycrafting, I came to the conculsion that a Warlock / Shadowpriest combo is the ticket. Here's why:

1) Both ranged classes. No stupid melee range problems. Or stupid minimum range problems (aka hunter dead zone).

2) Built in tank. Felguard or Voidwalker, and will last a really long time with VE heals.

3) Mana / Health battery. A Warlock can manage his/her health pretty well lifetaping and lifedraining... but with a Shadow Priest around, constant healing and/or active mana regen in combat will go a LONG way (VE/VT). Especially helping the demon tank stay alive longer.

4) DPS. Both classes pump out the DPS rather effectively. Add in mindflay, and you've got constant (limited) crowd control (slowing the enemy). Shadow priests also add Shadow Weaving, which will boost a Warlock's shadow damage. We're talking about maximizing synergy here! An affliction warlock would add even more here, but I'm still hooked on the demonolgy tree...

5) PW:Fortitude! More life for a warlock = more mana = Even less downtime. :) (And the pet tank lasts longer too)

I just got my 64 priest transfered over to my 2nd account last night ($25... ugh....), so tonight my 67 Warlock and 64 Shadow Priest are going hunting, after I get all the macro's setup. I think it'll work great, but real world testing will be the proof....

There's a shaman trainer in stormwind, fyi.

Anyway, I guess the main concern will be to have the priest land the killing blow in order to proc spirit tap. The secondary concern is/are mobs with high shadow resistance. Besides those, things (and players) should get ripped up in seconds.

Shammy trainer in SW you say? Yay! I'll have to go find it.

Spirit tap.... Concern of mine as well, but that's what SW:Death is for. :) (ok, not the best solution, but it might work...)

High Shadow Resistance... I'm curious how much of a problem this is actually going to be...?
