yesterday I was flying from Gadgetzan to Rut'theran Village.
I always ALT TAB and check this site or read about quests I'm going to do.
I ALT+TAB'ed back 6 times before I actualy landed.
Is there a way to have a small window open to see where I am?

As somebody has said, it's hidden away in the Interface Options.
Alternatively if you use FuBar, there's a module called something like SwitcherFu which does this with one click. Very handy for long flights, or while waiting for raids to start, or while a PuG member has afked for dinner......

I used a program at least a year ago in some MMO that allows you to play window mode when you press F11 but I'm not sure WOW allows that. Post the program here (if I find it.)

You lose a little graphic quality in window'd mode, but it makes alt-tabbing so much better.

Yeah I always run WoW in a window - but i have a 1920x1200 widescreen so I run wow in i think a 1600x1000 window and have web pages / ventrilo peeking on the right hand side

...i did kinda notice that slight blurry look to it whenever i play window mode... but, its trivial so it doesnt impact gameplay one bit.
