Hi there
What is the best way of getting to the Scarlet Monastery from Stormwind?

Hopefully you have the FP in Southshore in the Hillsbrad Foothills. If you do, simply run north from there, then around the lake and head east until you see the sign for Monastery.
If you do not have any FPs, you will need to take the tram to Ironforge, run to the Thandol Span (the bridge in the north that connects to Lordaeron), head through Arathi in a northerly direction, then find yourself near Southshore. A long trip to be sure.
Then of course, there is the incredibly easy way of having group members use the summoning stone :)

fly to southshore and head NW swim across the lake and go into horde territory or fly to chillwind camp in western plagues and aggro every mob on the way.

Yes, you can swim the lake...just be aware that it is defiled by the Horde and therefore not fit to be blessed by any swimming member of the Alliance.

When you swim acroos the lake you need to head North-East. You'll pass in front of Undercity, watch the gaurds at the Zep tower they'll kill you very fast .... lol. Head NE and watch for signs, stay slightly off the raod but keep an eye out for any gaurds along the way. Make sure your group is ready the mobs outside SM aren't a pushover and sometimes the Horde likes to "protect" SM. When you go in the bldg you'll need to enter each part seperatly GraveYard - Library - Armory - Cathedral.
Good Luck...

Dont forget to get the scarlet key - from the library iirc.
It will allow you entry into the locked instance wings in SM.

Personally, if i'm the party leader and you join and then wait to get summoned, you get kicked. If you can't be bothered to start heading to the instance, we can't be bothered to have you along.

Totally!!! Great point! If you're alliance go to Nigels Point and make sure to do all those quests - you get one that offers up a very sweet weapon that will last you a while, it requires you to kill all the bosses in SM to get it. There's a horde counterpart to this quest as well I believe.

Yes...the weapon reward from that quest lasted a long time for me. The day I vendored it was a big one for me...I had grown quite attached to it.

(29.7 damage per second)
+9 Strength
+3 Agility
+4 Stamina
Durability 90 / 90
Sells for 1 Gold 82 Silver 55 Copper to vendors
Item Level 44
Source: Quest
Prophetic Cane
Binds when picked up
Held In Off-hand
+5 Stamina
+12 Intellect
Sells for 48 Silver 85 Copper to vendors

Source: Quest
Dragon's Blood Necklace
Binds when picked up

+12 Stamina
+5 Spirit

The quest comes from Varimathras in Undercity (ask a guard for the Battlemasters, he's in the same room). I can't remember what pre-reqs there are (if any), you'd need to research this yourself, if you're having trouble picking it up.

Far Alliance you can get Sword of Serenity 1H sword - matched w/the shield that drops in the Cathedral = awesome combo -or- Bonebiter = very nice 2H axe -or a very nice Dagger (don't know specs sorry) or a Orb (don't know specs on this either). You get to choose 1 when you complete the chain that starts in Nigel's Point, finish is in SS so you don't need to go back to desolace to get your reward. The final quest requires you to kill all 4 bosses in SM.
SM is great for drops and XP .... IMO.

Ewww...glad I was not a Horde rogue going into this quest...no dagger reward? I would have thought that the rewards would be similar, but I think I like the Alliance rewards better.
