anyone else find it annoying that the sets have been reduced from 8 piece to (i think 5?) havnt played in a few days so cant remember atm. but i find it annoying because anytime that happens my gear looks horribly mismatched and the OCD in me hates that.

anyone like it? dislike it? (give me somthing to read :-P im in class)

I was also put off by this as I was admiring the Deathmantle set at the vendor. I think that one lacks boots. Why boots? I don't mind if it lacked bracers or a belt, but boots? Oh well...just have to try hard to find a pair that almost matches.

Maybe I am too picky, but things like that often bother me. I have been known to wear lesser quality items simply because the fact that the very best available gear doesn't look good to me. At least some of them share models, so you don't have to always match things by name exactly.

Yup, it's incredibly annoying to look like a retarded linebacker from a neighborhood football team that doesn't understand purple doesn't match green when you're wearing orange and blue

Aside from the above things that it doesn't look as cool with the main visable pieces matching, at the same time, I like the fact that I can get the set in theoretically fewer runs thus allowing me to put the set togather faster.

I've got mixed feelings. At first I didn't like it but after I thought about it, and I've read other similar opinions, I realized that it might be a good thing. To a certain extent it makes a person have to think more about their gear and reduces the cookie cutter feeling you get from looking at most raiders.

I picked up the Striker's War Bands from Kara the other day (my only BC epic so far) and, even if I get a full tier 4 set, I won't feel obligated to keep these wrists if I see an improvement since they don't contribute to my set bonus. I like being able to actually pick my gear more than I could before.

Once I get the other two pieces to my Beast Lord armor, I'll still need to figure out some boots. I'm currently wearing clown shoes.

The real thing I like about the new Tier 4 and 5 sets is it doesn't cater to one particular aspect of a Hybrid class, or a class that can do multiple things. Being a Ranged DPS Shaman this is awsome. The Tier 1, 2 and 3 sets all catered to a healing Shaman. Now I can pick up a Ranged DPS Tier 4 set. Whee!
And I'm sure with all of the items out there, finding matching boots shouldn't be TOO hard...

I Hope....

Maybe...

I dunno...

The blizzard design team was just taking notes from Sir Bob's outfit on www.thenoobcomic.com

Yes, you will find non-set boots that will match your teir set. For example, look at the Warrior Warbringer teir gear, and then look at both the models for Boots of Elusion and Battlescar boots. Both boots match perfectly.

It allows you to personalize to tailor your playstyle/spec, without 'needing' a full set to be at your most effective.

Its wonderful, especially when there are other pieces out there that match the outfit if youre in it just for the looks.

I am totally drooling over the Deathmantle set. Will be a very long time before I have the complete set, I'm sure, but that's okay. IMO it looks great on a NElf

One benefit of having smaller sets is that the endless grind that we all know so well from pre-BC is limited a bit more. Although it will still exist, at least we are now doing it for fewer items.

What blizz giveth, blizz taketh away.

They're fiends, really. Now the sets are smaller, but we have the combination problem of (drum roll please) metagems! I haven't checked to see hoe carefully they've designed the requirements (given the mess that is the gems category on AH, let's assume "not very"), but have you ever seen the "requires more <colour 1> gems than <colour 2> gems" ones? If there are mutually exclusive ones which a certain class might like, people are going to whimper.

As it is, the meta-requirements are annoying. An expensive meta-gem on your tweaked gear is something you may not want to lose, so it can give people some complex dilemmas when trying to judge the suitability of gear that drops.
