Well first of all it's against Blizzard's Terms of Service. So no, it's not safe to buy a use WoW. And Blizzard will ban you if they find out... Also, I'm quite sure you can't change some of the account info that's rather important (like your last name - unless you can prove a legal name change).

well there was a lot of general spam last night from a guy who was like 'dont buy anything from xxx it has been taken over by a gold farmer'

Then the next message would be xxx: WTS 10x fel armament

So i whispered the guy to ask what was going on... he said the GM couldn't do anything. So I said - go change your password dude and disconnect him!!!

Which is where it came out - he got the account from a friend, said friend could not recall the secret question... GM refused to step in....

But you could just be talking about the disks for WoW.

Note blizzard does not support any trading of accounts... thus what you see above.

Buy your own, level your own characters. You WILL have more fun.

I undrstand all the above.... was just curious... I was looking for TBC on amazon, and these used wow-s just popped up for 1/4-the price! I wonder how amazon can sell them if it is illegal... :ponder:

There's nothing illegal about reselling the game, as long as you uninstall it and forfeit everything (CDs, manual, even the crap that comes with, like the 10-day trial, or ads for other games).

What's against the ToS is using the same CD key for two different accounts. Not only is it not allowed, but you literally will not be able to, as the CD key will be registered and not be allowed to be used again.

...so there's really no point in buying those used WoW cd's, coz u cant use the CDkeys, and would need new ones? actually a friend of mine's been considering doing the same too, he gets everything though (even the account, since he says he knows the guy that's selling). this way he wouldnt need to make a new account.

Yeah...buying it from a friend is better, but still illegal, and there can be "messups" in that case as well, as we heard above...

So amazon is selling the CD-s, but there is nothing u can do with them except play frisbee? lol I can buy a frisbee cheaper :D (even five)

dont use the word 'illegal', there is nothing illegal about it... its just against the ToS, there is a difference :P

and as everyone has already said, just go buy an original version of the game from a retailer.. if you can afford to pay the monthly sub******ion, im sure you can afford a retail copy of the game <3

Thx for the input, but thats not really the subject of this thread... I have an original cd/account/whatever but I was just wondering about this stuff.
I know it is against the tos!!!/illegal! It is the same thing, if u don't stick to the meaning of illegal as in terms of against the laws of the society/government/whatever but in terms of the laws as a player.
Originaly from wikipedia.org:

Illegal, or unlawful, is used to describe something that is prohibited or not authorized by law or, more generally, by rules specific to a particular situation (such as a game).

IT IS ILLEGAL!!! lol
