View Full Version : Another dual box question - Warrior/Priest - Hunter/Priest

I've narrowed it down to these two classes to start for my journey.

I've deleted all my other characters, changed servers to a RP server, and decided to start up a dual box set.

I've narrowed it down to Warrior and Priest, or Hunter and Priest...

I had Mage and Priest for a bit - but I'm just not sure about that one.

I think I'd like a class that can charge into a group of mobs, and use my healer to heal him up when needed. With the Mage class, I had to sit down and drink up and wait around. With a warrior - the stat that matters is health, and I'll use my priest to heal him up.

I'm 99% sure I'm going to go with dual dwarves... So my question is if a Hunter seems like a better class - because they're already extremely soloable, and with extra healing it would just add to that... or a warrior who can run into the middle and tank things, and have my priest heal him up when needed. I'm leaning on the Warrior because he can get full armor - and I don't need to worry about a pet, since I already have to watch my priest's back.

I would say Hunter. A warrior has a lot more to worry about because he has to keep total aggro or your little priest will pull mobs through healing.

Drop a frost trap at the healer's feet and send the pet in. If you have a monkey a thunderstomp will grab a good chunk of initial aggro and then you just take care of killing 1 at a time. Usually a pet can hold 2-3 without any healing needed but if you want less down time have renew and flash heals macro'd to the pet.

You can have the priest wand stuff as well which will help without using mana that may be needed for heals. Assist pet and shoot works, then just target back to pet in the other macros.

Another bonus with hunter/priest is that you both can stand in the same area. if the priest gets aggro you won't have to be running all over the screen to pick it back up. Keep her fade hotkeyed just in case and keep a freezey trap at her feets.

I once started a BRD run before my friend got to the lan center we were playing at. He was the tank (warrior) and I am a priest. I just set my priest on follow and played the warrior - when anyone needed healing, i would reach over and hit my hot keys. I had benecast at the time- so it took about 2 sec to throw a shield, renew, Fheal or Gheal on anyone that needed it. Wasn't too hard, but wouldn't want to try in on a boss ( we were clearing rings for a jailbreak run).

I did get quite a bit of attention at the lan center for sitting between two computers playing both the tank and healer in an actual high lvl instance- not just grinding. People thought it was pretty cool. That’s probably the most RL respect I have gotten from random gamers lol.

OH- sorry- to answer your question- i agree- hunter.

Just play the hunter as normal and put one button on your priests bar - a macro that targets the pet and casts your highest rank renew. Set the priest to follow and thats all you will ever need solo.

Hmm, interesting. I was actually expecting people to say Warrior.

This begs me to ask - would a Warlock possibly be better than a Hunter? My thought is that the hassle of having to feed your pet, and keep them happy and spend the extra gold to train them could be a hassle. But I think a warlock does have some downsides too, like shards and what not.

really... it depends on what you want a lvl 70 to be- a warlock or a hunter- or a warrior- what roll do you want to play in end game?

Just best combo for lvling without much of an issue- hunter priest - hunter pally for buffs.

The issue your are going have is the exp split. The benifit of two people grouping is you can kill mobs twice as fast - if you arn't dpsing with both people, while you won't have any issues with mobs, the drain on exp will not be worth it. I would actually suggest 2 hunters and play them both. Twice the pets, twice the arrows - twice the killing.

Would this work but running them both on the same machine, I already have my account and will be getting another one soon as a guild mate may be quitting.

I have a shadow priest and he also has a priest but i only have 1 PC at the moment, would I have to keep them windowed on the same machine or wouldn't it work?
