First, thank you for this website and all you do...

I use WoW UIs.. Very Helpful... I only try to use those that have a large download and good % rating....

This past Thurday, I was Hacked... all my items on my characters gone!
This morning, one other person who has used my pc for his logging into WoW has found to be hacked...

Nothing else was hacked into... ie other personal info I use on my PC...

I do have a bought firewall.. was set on medium... now on High...

as I mentioned, the Only thing that I can think of, was an attachment to one of the UI I was using........

Please all Recheck what you have......................

Thank you

All mods are checked and automatically scanned for malicious trojan/malware so if you got hacked it was not from this site.

If you use windows vista, there is a security flaw involving animated cursors on websites (even legit sites) that directly targets WoW users, if you are using windows vista a) becareful where you search, or B) check the microsoft security update page for the hotfix, My condolonses on your losses, hope the weener who did it gets their Karma =)

This works in XP as well, as far as I know. And if you're running IE6, your security is pretty low.

I wouldn't go around blaming popular and well-known mod sites for viruses if I were you. Maybe you were using Thottbot and you're a victim of its known keyloggers? Or maybe you used Allkazham and the same thing happened?

Neither of those sites have keyloggers in their data farming / character logging mods. Getting a keylogger connected with one of those is no different to getting one from a mod on here (which has happened, I can link to a few threads where mods got deleted after a few hours of distributing a keylogger or similar).

You weren't "hacked" your account was stolen, hacking requires effort and skill. Being hacked would mean that someone figured out your password on their own and gained access to your account. Your account was stolen by a thief using a program to do the work for him... Get an anti-virus, inspect all the addons you download for .exe files and be wary of any executable programs you use such as auto-updaters and file editors.

No matter how much you trust a website, you can't trust the people who use it. Fortunately I use an anti-virus program and it caught the trojan embedded in the last SW_Stats update. No one is going to protect your account for you...like the Undeads say, trust no one.

And like virus and spyware scanners, not everything is 100% foolproof, unfortunately. If someone's determined, they'll find a way.

But the chances that you got it from this site are slim. I've downloaded tons of addons, before the scanner, and I've never had a problem. It's most likely a third-party launcher (if you're using such a thing), or something you've downloaded outside of this site, and possibly not even related to World of Warcraft.

And if you're using Windows, well, you're basically inviting anything to happen.

Download AVG or Avast or if you prefer not to run an AV all the time (why?) then go to pandasoftware.com and do an active scan.
