View Full Version : Too busy...

Some mod pages are just way too busy.

There are a lot of mods that sound like they would be helpful but then when I look at the screenshots, the SS is way too busy and the mod is all over the place.

Here is a suggestion to all you mod developers.

Clean up your act!

Seriously, spend a little extra time cleaning up the UI. Tuck them away neatly in corners and edges of the screen. Spend just a few extra minutes on the appearance and organization. Get rid of those stupid radio button things like in DoTimer. Better yet, make the UI fully movable and lockable by the user. Don't forget to include the ability to make it transperant and scale the size.

These are just basic issues I find to be frustrating with mods, like DoTimer. That stupid button sitting in my screen, very good mod, but I hate that button so much I don't use the UI.

Anyways...I do appreciate all the modders' work, just trying to help your work get used more.

If you don't like a mod's appearance, you can usually bet there are 20+ alternatives to it that are far better. Not every author developes mods specifically with the users in mind, but rather with what they feel is the best setup in mind.

How about you learn English?

But I agree with the original poster, some screenshots have a lot going on, and some have mods running that otherwise clutter what the person is trying to show.

I have to admit that I end up screaming into /g that so-and-so is retarded because he or she didn't so the mod right a lot. Maybe they didn't add the option to "Hide Plugin" on FuBar, and made things difficult, or didn't choose to use the Ace2 library to allow you to change bars (when it's an Ace2 mod) making all my bars mismatched. Some authors don't really take the time to make sure they've got a mod that'll truly be good.

Oh, and one thing that bothers me a lot is general laziness. A lot of mod authors take the easy way out of things, which hurts the end-user and makes the mod unpopular. And I find it extremely annoying when people ignore grammar and proper spelling when developing a mod.
